Infant Car Seat for 2013 Ford Escape(?)

With the anticipation of our first born, we recently upgrade our primary vehicle to a 2013 Ford Escape. We thought the larger vehicle would provide more room to our newborn and all the additional gear that will accompany him/her.  After reading reviews and checking out multiple car seats, we decided on the Britax B-Safe.  When it arrived, we immediately tried fitting in into the car and discovered it was an extremely tight fit between the car seat itself and the back of the driver/passenger front seat.  That got us thinking...maybe we need a shorter seat/base to fit the vehicle's tight room between the back and front seats.

Has anyone had any recent success with infant car seats that fit the 2013 Escape?  Interesting to hear your thoughts...

  • While I don't have a Ford Escape, what I would recommend is going to one of the major baby supply stores and testing various models in your vehicle.  Most stores will allow you to try them in your car to ensure a good fit prior to purchasing.  We tested several infant car seats before deciding, and I plan to do the same thing when we move into convertibles.

Because of the way the B-Safe sits on the base, it is a bit larger than some other seats on the market.  You might try the Chicco Keyfit.

  • The Chicco Keyfit is more compact.  Where are you trying to put it?

I was going to post this for you. Like PPs I'd look at the Keyfit. I'd also look at the onBoard 35 air which I am now using for the second time on DS2. It comes with all of the inserts so your LO doesn't have a floppy head like the ladies on my BMB were complaining about today and also fits down to 4 lbs. we fit it in a little 3 series BMW no problem.

  • I have a Mazda Trubute, similar to the Escape.  I had no issues with the Chicco.  I also have no issue with the Britax Advocate.
