New to Cleveland — The Bump
Cleveland Babies

New to Cleveland

Hi ladies,

I was formally from theknot in South Florida and never really used the bump. My name is Jennifer and I will be moving to Cleveland with my husband and 1 year old boy. We will actually be there next week to house hunt. We will be moving the second week of July. I'm looking for recommendations on mommy and me classes, kid friendly things to do, places where they have parenting classes, etc.

Down here we have places that are awesome and I would love to find something like this there:

Thanks in advance!

  • Welcome!  Hope you love it. :) No clue on classes since I'm just expecting and going with the classes the hospital offers (Though you may want to check out Cleveland Clinic and University hospitals to see if they offer any for already parents)

    Awesome kids events:

    Boo at the Zoo

Thomas the Train - Cuyahoga Valley National Park - Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway (usually held in May)

Parade the Circle (yearly in summer)

    Kid friendly places:

    The Childrens Museum

    Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

    Akron Zoo

Cleveland Art Museum (There are toddler art classes and even special stroller tours!)

     Lake Farmpark

Memphis Kiddie Park (cheesy little carnival rides, but it's totally for small tykes)

Cleveland Botanical Gardens (esp. hershey Childrens Garden)

    Prestons H.O.P.E. Playground

There are other fun things as the kids get older too like the natural history museum, the science center, lots of metroparks nature centers, goodtime cruise, a submarine to explore (uss cod), hale farm, national park hiking/biking

There are plenty of reasonably kid friendly restaurants too (where you can get away from the usual chains) since this is quite a foodie town.  Some you may have to go earlier in the evening, but you won't get funny looks with a little one.

Feel free to convo me if you have any questions.

  • Jealous---just looked at your links.  If you find anything like that here let me know.  We seem very medicine oriented versus wellness/holistic in this area (I have a previous post trying to find a more holistic minded doctor)

  • Hi! We will be arriving to Cleveland on July 12th! Do you know where you will be living at?

  • Thank you so much for your advice! I'm sorry I took so long to reply. i clicked on follow this thread and I never got any emails so I thought no one responded.

We purchased a house in Olmsted Falls. We are excited! I really liked Cleveland from what I saw that week we were there.
