December 2013 Moms

Eff.

DH and I were outside enjoying the beautiful sunset with our dog, when out of nowhere a dog zips up the driveway and starts attacking my baby!!! I flipped out, and thank goodness I knew who the dog was. It was our neighbors across the street that we know doesn't like other dogs, and is thankfully smaller than our dog. He was going after her back legs, I drug her inside, thank God I had her on a leash because I never do, and DH went after the other dog, and the only yelp we heard was from the other dog when DH gave it a kick to get it off my angel.

This furbaby mama had a near heart attack. I got her inside, checked for bites, and thankfully there was no skin broken. I just hugged her and cried, she licked my face. The neighbors came and apologized profusely, apparently they dog busted out the fence. Apparently one more strike and the dog is done...I hope it doesn't come to that unless my dog is that last strike...

  • Little jerk dog! I threatened to shoot a really mean dog a month ago. I don't like the owner either...
  • Yikes. That's scary for sure. I'm glad your pup is ok. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

  • We just moved to a new state/town and apparently there AREN'T leash laws here. We let our dogs off-leash on our property, but only because we can control them verbally and they know their boundaries on this property. But what worries me is when we walk them around the neighborhood ON their leashes. One of our dogs is aggressive towards other dogs when DH and I are around (we've worked on it, and it's better, but still. She's a rescue so we don't fully know what her history was). Sure, we can control our dog when she's on a leash, but how are you going to control YOUR dog when our dog starts showing aggression? If I see someone walking their dog with no leash, I immediately turn around and walk in the other direction. Even if you have control over your dog, you have no control over other dogs. Leashes are just better for everyone in neighborhoods.

  • See I hate this. If a big dog acted the way that little one did, it would be put down. Think about all the aggressive little dogs that growl bark and attack, there is no way that people would let a big dog act that way, but the owners just say something along the lines of how cute it is that he/she thinks she can take on the world. I'm sorry NOT cute!

I totally agree!I am the owner of one little dog and one big dog and they get treated the exact same way. My little dog use to get protective of us when he was a puppy and when I corrected him people would say ?oh it?s ok he is so little what can he do.??ahhh he is a dog; I have seen him tear apart an ?indestructible? dog toy in seconds. If my big dog even barks at people though its ?control that animal? ?is that thing safe?? Trust me if I had to pick a dog to be afraid of it?s the little one.

  • I actually have no idea if we have leash laws around here. We always have Savannah on a leash anyway, except in our own fenced in back yard or driveway, or public places she's allowed off like the dog park and dog beach. DH took her on a walk this morning and said there was another dog off leash that started trotting over to her. He said likely it was friendly but who knows, so he grabbed a 2x4 with nails on it from someone's trash just in case. She actually got bit before by a dog at her obedience class, ironically, that drew blood on her snout and I burst into tears when she was safe. I'm so mama bear until the situation is resolved then I'm a big baby.

  • I have a bull mastiff and a beagle. It's funny people want to pat the beagle and are scared of the mastiff. I'm like uuurrr no you don't want to pat the beagle, pat the big one. The mastiff is massive sook and has no problem being patted, but the beagle hates being man handled and I don't trust her if she gets cornered.
