I took my dog in for and ultrasound and it is what appears to be cancer. He had spots all over his liver and spleen in the ultrasound and they said it is most likely cancer. They said they have no idea how long he will last but they said just to keep him comfortable and when he looks sick or stops eating it is time. Poor little guy.

I spent $1200 to get this diagnosis. I am not planning to spend any more money as I know some people do surgery and chemo. Which I would imagine costs thousands. The vet said that they really wouldn't recommend that anyways for a variety of reasons and just to focus on his quality of life while we have him.

I'm so sorry : Try to enjoy the time you do have. Do you have a friend or would you mind spending some money on someone who can come take pics? I know that has been very comforting for friends going through similar situations.

Im sorry to hear this. Both of my dogs were diagnosed with cancer this last year. We were told they had about 4-6wks left without treatment. With treatment we would have at least another year with them.

We spent around $8000 on treatments. It might sound ridiculous but they are truly my family and we don't regret it one bit. Whatever decisions you're about to make are going to be very tough. I wish you the best of luck in making the right choices.

Maybe you can take your dog to a dog beach? We did that with our girls and it was the best experience, very healing for all of us.

I am so sorry. My dog does not have cancer but she has cysts, we only had one tested but are assuming they are all the same and refuse to put her through surgery (she is probably 12 1/2 or so) at this point, only you know what is best to do in the situation. Have you can any further conversations with your FI about not using poison around your son? While this might not have been the cause we all know how dangerous rat poison is and I surely would not want to hear that your son gets exposed to it in the future. If you have not talked maybe you can bring it up in a few days when you can be calmer.

I'm so sorry about your dog's diagnosis. You must be devastated. My cats are the only children I have ever had and I still cry about one that we lost last year. I understand not wanting to pay a huge cost for vet bills. I know some people are able to bear that cost but most are not. I hope you have a lot more time left with him and that the time he has left is as comfortable as possible.

SO sorry. I went through this with my boxer. I spent all the money on her and it was taken care of. The vet said it could go either way but she was fine.. then she got another tumor that turned out not to be cancerous.
