Breastfeeding

Re: (Untitled)

  • My DS hates being stomach to stomach.  He has always laid on his back in my arms and turned his head.  I never thought anything of it and it hasn't caused any problems.

  • As long as you LO is eating, it really doesn't matter what position they are in. The positions are basically just suggestions to help get you started.

  • My son nurses on his back, too. He's 2.5 months. He only nursed stomach to stomach in the very beginning.
  • Thanks! I hadn't thought of it til my mom pointed it out to me.

  • My baby does both of these... sometimes we are stomach-to-stomach, but sometimes he's more on his back with his head turned. I also like to nurse him kind of sitting up in my lap instead of lying across a pillow sometimes. I don't think it matters, whatever position that baby lies in happily and gets milk in is fine. I was so obsessed with the "proper" position in the beginning (and it IS important in the beginning to get the hang of it), but now that I'm much more comfortable with nursing, he can be in all kinds of different positions.

  • MY LC just said its harder to swallow with your head turned. But if Louis eating okay then I'm sure it's fine for them.
