  • Big hugs sweetie.  Try to calm down and remember that what's done is done.  You ate what you ate.  There is always a risk but remember, the risk is small. when I do stupid stuff like this I remind myself that there are moms out there that drink or smoke or do drugs the entire time while pregnant and have perfectly normal kids so 1 chicken salad sandwich is not the worst thing you can do.  It's ok to be scared and freaked out.  Stupid PGAL!

  • Huge hugs!!!

    Try not to beat yourself up about these things!! There's really an extremely small chance that anything you ate will cause any sort of harm to your baby. As long as you're eating food from a reputable place, there's nothing to really worry about at all.

    Almost every day when I drink my one coffee, I think to myself "should I really even have just this one coffee?" but then I realize that one cup isn't going to hurt my baby so I give myself a break. But I do panic for a moment about it.

    Don't be so hard on yourself! Everything will be ok! :)

    ::hugs::Try not to beat yourself up over little things. nbsp;I've done the exact same thing with feta. nbsp;Like pp I remind myself of all the stuff my mom ate and we turned out ok.nbsp;

    Thanks and not to make it worse but, what's the problem with feta? If you buy it it's likely pasteurized right?

  • I don't mean to trivialize the listeria scare - but I think the "enemy" being lunch meat is quite ridiculous. You're just as likely to ingest listeria with spinach or melons (or other fruit/veggies). It just really depends on where you purchase your food, how well you clean it, etc.

    I think you're fine to eat sandwiches from a place that charges a good deal of money for a sandwich. I know that's an assumption, but I have to assume if they're charging quite a bit that they must have tools they use that help reduce the risk of listeria, and your sandwich has been heated so you're good.

    I'm sorry you're so worried. Please don't let yourself get sick over this. What's done is done. If you're not comfortable eating this kind of food, then just don't. Try to find alternatives if it makes you this upset. You are NOT irresponsible or selfish.

    This was my thought process too (albeit subconscious at the time)...This is an extremely well-known, reputable Boston restaurant so when i was eating it, I wasn't thinking about it at all. I should probably use this as an indicator of what's ok or not. If I didn't want to eat convenience store sandwiches or hot dogs before I got pregnant because it skeeves me out, I should just continue being skeeved out by THAT, haha.  I'm a well-educated person who has done my pregnancy research! If it's not raising a red flag when I'm eating it, what's the point of worrying about it later? I really think it has more to do with waiting for those screening results so, my defenses are already down. Also, do you ever just need to cry? Haha. I'm feeling a lot better and I really appreciate the input and wise-words. I'm not one to buy into the fear-mongering and had been doing so well!
