OAD What Are You Keeping?

Okay so I'm sentimental (/maybe a packrat/baby clothes hoarder). As it stands we are one and done. I've gone through all of Chloe's clothes she no longer fits in (newborn - 3-6 month stuff) and I gave away 3 boxes of things I wasn't totally in love with to a friend who just had a baby girl. But now I have 2 large rubbermaid bins full of stuff I don't want to part with. Chloe fits in 6 month stuff all the way up to 12 month stuff (with a few 0-3 and 3 month things mixed in) so her dresser and closet are still full.

My problem is I don't want to bring it all to England because I know we will accumulate a lot of stuff over the next 4 years clothing wise for her, though I'm sure it'll be a bit easier to let go of when it's not tiny stuff. But I don't want to leave it all behind with the stuff to be handed down to whoever in the family has the next baby girl because I selfishly want to keep a lot of it.

I can't decide where the line is though.

OBVIOUSLY keeping the outfit that she met her daddy in for the first time, I will not be giving that to anyone else.... but I like all the rest.

Ugh, how do you decide?!

We keep anything that is actually valuable, or items that have significance - coming home from the hospital outfit, (for Jack) the outfit he wore at our wedding, etc. I'm not a pack-rat when it comes to their clothes. A few heirloom type things (anything hand knit or stitched) I'll keep for them to have for their children. But just the "oh my gosh I loved that outfit" things.... they gotta go.

But I think if I actually go through the boxes and get rid of the stuff I loved but didn't really hold any significance then I'll forget about it before too long. And I have pictures I suppose...

I'm keeping things that were a favorite. I kept a newborn onesie that he wore often, his first sneakers, and footed sleeper. I'll also keep his crocheted blanket. Everything else is gone.

Yeah, you'll totally forget about them. And you take so many pictures, I'm sure you've captured all the cutest ones Three years in, I love going through Jack's memory box b/c it's all actual sentimental items. No fluff.

Can you put anything in storage while you're gone, here? I know it's an extra expense but then you wouldn't have to get rid of anything you don't want to.

My dad is going to hold onto some stuff at his house for us. The problem is we're likely going directly to the other side of the country when we get back, no stop in NC first, so if we wanted anything again we'd have to pay shipping.

We've bought so little that I'm sentimental about everything we bought. We got so many gifts and hand me downs that we are overloaded with clothes.

I would set a limit for yourself...maybe two outfits per size?

We're not OAD, but I sold all of G's little clothes. We're not having the next one for at least 4 years and it'll be NBD to buy new clothes again. I'm not lugging 10+ boxes of clothes and blankets around for the next 4 years (especially because we're moving too!).

I am only keeping a very few outfits for sentimental reasons. I am in the process of selling/giving things away. I just gave her infant car seat away today.
