She's improving... kinda.
Last night was from HELL. She was literally crawling out of her skin, and there was nothing I could do to help her. We both just sat there and cried, then we both puked from all the snot (still have head colds) then she had the chills... oh lordie, it was rough.
She finally passed out about 11pm, and slept fairly well.
This morning the spots are lighter, most of the big ones have moved (normal) but the welts and bullseyes are still there, she is HORRIBLY swollen. Yea, Doc did not tell me that would get worse. Dr. Google says that's not normal to EM, so now I'm worried. But I really don't want some random ER doc pumping her full of steroids, so we're in a holding pattern. She's seriously swollen, does not even look like my kid. Eyes, hands, feet - just plump as can be.
But she's happy. She's yelling at the dog as we speak, and wiggling to get down and play. I'm chasing her with fluids, and will all day.
ps - Mod, her case is 99% probably from the amox. It's just a different condition than "hives". It can be viral, but they are prettty sure hers is not. The calamine lotion seems to help a bit.
Re: Update on my Cheetah Girl
Hey-
What did they give her medicine wise, anything???? I'm 99% positive that Connor had the same thing.......our pics look identical....I will have to try and post some for you to see.
I know you are worried about the steroids, but they gave those to us the second we walked in the ER........is she not on them b/c you don't want her to be??
Connor was given steroids (orally.....) while we were at the ER and then he took those and Benadryl for a week or so. I would do the steroids again in a heartbeat b/c it made it all go away and helped him feel so much better. I know what you are talking about when you say that she was "jumping" out of her skin....we had that too the night we took him to the ER.......but once he got those steroids in him, he was so much better.
Hope she feels better!
CM - it's the amox that gave her EM. We switched to zithro, and it seems to be ok. (although the taste makes her gag) She's only on benedryl, topical stuff, and tylenol/motrin for comfort measures.
Did they give you prednisone? I read alot of yeahs and nays on that route - most say it does not help too much, others say it's a waste, just cosmetic, I dunno. As a nurse, I hate putting anything else into her body, esp. something that will compromise her immune system more! Oviously I want her happy and healthy, so if she keeps "crawling out of her skin" I'll certainly consider it.
Sorry C had it too... it's rough to watch them just want to rip their skin off!
Was he swollen too? Fever? That part is worrying me...
plus her ears were still full of schmutz, as of yesterday, so all this and the ear infection is lingering... oh joy...
