WWTTCALD? original bfp mentioned

Original BFP mentioned

Good morning ladies, I hope you all had a good rest.

So I was going through my camera the other day when I came across some videos I had taken. Me in my first pregnancy innocence had set up DH with the news. I had tricked him into opening a card that told him the news and then recorded his response, I also recorded myself when I started to test earlier that day so I have my own reaction as well. It breaks my heart to see them and I went to delete the videos but I stopped at the last min.

What would you guys do? Delete it or do I just keep them hidden on my computer so in the future I could choose to watch them?

I would encourage you to do what you feel it the healthiest option for yourself. If the video/photo's you have do not cause you pain, then keeping them is definitely an option.

I'm a firm believer in that you know when you're ready to get rid of things. If you're still holding on you aren't ready. Some day you might want to look back on it, even if it is painful and remember the happiness. And some day you might decide that you're ready to let the videos go. You'll know when you're ready.

I agree with this. When I came across photos of my positive pg test and photos taken of me at 11 weeks pregnant, my first reaction was to delete them. Thankfully, I stopped myself in time. Now I have those photos put away in a scrapbook to look at whenever I want. I'm really glad I saved them.

Thanks, I mean I probably will hide them somewhere along with all of the photos. I do kind of regret rage deleting the weekly belly photos.
But It's just in the back of my mind I know they're still there and it sucks a lot. ::sigh:: really it isn't my video but the look on DHs face that kills me when I see it. On to the external HD they go I suppose.

DH and I have kept all of the pictures and journals from my pregnancies, and we still look at them from time to time, including the ones from my pregnancy with Skippy. For us, it's a reminder that those babies are/were real, and we will always love them. I suppose I might get rid of the pictures and journals someday, but for now, I need them.

This is a very personal decision and there is no right or wrong answer. That said, I would personally keep them. I do like the idea of tucking them away somewhere in a memory box so that you don't inadvertently run into them when you are not prepared. Big (((hugs))) to you.

  • Huge hugs.

DH and I recorded our mothers' reactions. I was around 8 weeks, or so I thought, and totally nieve to the idea that something could go wrong.

I debated about what to do with them as well. Luckily we didn't have to make that decision. DH got a new phone a few months ago and while everything else transferred, he lost the videos. It was sort of a relief and I see it as it wasmeant to be that way.

I also like pp's susuggestion to put them on a flash drive and make a memory box. I hope you find something that feels right to you.

I would personally keep it. I have everything from my pregnancies that I keep together in a special spot. It's the only thing tangible thing I have to remind me of my babies. I also have a video of telling my husband which I actually forgot about until this post but I think I will keep it just in case I'm feeling sentimental. Good luck in your decision!

(((((Serenla))))).  I know it hurts.  Unfortunately, there is no getting it out of your mind.  It's all part of it.  I still get really sad when I remember how happy DH and I were when we got our BFP...and I didn't even video tape it.  To be honest, in a weird way, I wish I had.  It is bittersweet, but we were so genuinely happy and excited.  That was very real and we probably won't be that way again unfortunately...I know we will be so happy, but also scared the next time around.

As PP said, I think whatever you decide is the right choice for you - there is no right answer.  What I would do might not be the best for you.  (((more hugs)))

  • I would keep them, but that's my personal choice. I still have my hpt test (I know gross) but I can't bring myself to look at it or throw it away. I feel like if I do then that pregnancy never happened and I can't allow myself the thought of ever forgetting that baby. We never received an ultrasound picture so I feel like it's the only thing I have.

  • I recorded telling everyone at Christmas, from my hubby and DS together that morning to both of our families and friends later that day and Boxing Day. So like five or six videos by the time we got around to the various houses and groups of people. I've basically ignored those videos, they're just sitting on my hard drive in a folder and I haven't had the heart to go back and do anything with them. I've also got all these copies of a cute poem I made to go in the Xmas cards, we announced with this poem and the reactions are so priceless...heart breakingly so in hindsight.  I just keep shuffling the poems around whenever I find them, not knowing what to do with them.  I think I've just tried to forget all of this is there, you know? I can't bring myself to get rid of any of it, though, so I'm thinking a memory box or something like that is in order.  Thanks ladies for the ideas/inspiration! ((Hugs))

  • I'm keeping everything I have pg related. We also have a video of us telling my in-laws. It was awesome at the time and they were both so excited. I have a lot of bump weekly pictures and other mementos that will be kept. It's all I have left of my little love. They will be our reminder of our love for our first child.

We have 2 pictures up in our living room. The one in my sig and then one of DH holding Addie. Many other things will go in a shadow box and the rest in a little keepsake box.

You have to do what's best for you. You could put the video onto a flash drive and put it away until you are ready to watch it. I'm kind of a hoarder when it comes to stuff like this. I'd rather put it away and have it for later just in case. If you destroy it and wished you had it later there's no going back from that.

    FOR A GOOD TIME: ****/post/150810/thread

  • I have my weekly bump pics I had started taking, as well as the card I gave DH to tell him and my pictures from the day we found out. It is really hard to see any of it, even if is just a picture of me when I was pregnant.

PI can't bring myself to delete them though. I plan on having a scrapbook of the year, and I plan on giving our baby a page or two in the book with some of these images.

  • DD mentioned.

I also have videos of when we told DD she was going to be a big sister and announcing to my parents. I also took weekly photos of my belly up to week 10.. (Right up to my mmc). As hard as they are to look at sometimes I can't delete them. Even though it ended up being the saddest experience, they are some awfully happy memories of the excitement we had. I'm sure I'll eventually put hem in my memory box as well.
