August 2012 Moms

Yahoo! Kinda...

I have 2 more days of work before summer vacation! I'm so excited and at the same time apprehensive.

I'm so used to our schedule of me working and D hanging out with my sister that I'm worried about our transition into summer. Plus I'm an extrovert and don't do well at home all day anyways. I need people!

I'm looking into a local mom group and we are signed up for swim lessons. It would be awesome to find some type of mommy and me fitness class.

What else would you ladies recommend?

  • I'm mostly a lurker, but check out Stroller Strides! It is a Fit4Mom program that I got into after my LO was born and I loved it so much that I got certified to be an instructor. It is an incredible workout plus awesome supportive Moms!
  • I hear ya.
Are there classes you can do through the city? In my city there are a lot of programs through parks and rec and they last the summer and are pretty cheap. Is there a my gym or similar near you? I take DS to it once a week and he loves it. Good luck finding something to do!

I second Stroller Strides is they have it in your area. It's a really nice way to meet others! The one I do is even offering a teacher package for the summer!!

  • If your library does story time that would be a good thing for you 2 to do. We do a lot of time at the park or just window shopping.

Also if you are worried about the transition maybe try and do a week transition to half days with your sister then go to not seeing her anymore? I don't know, it isn't something I have personally had to deal with, but it might be an option if you are really worried about the transition.

Enjoy your summer with your baby!

  • Do you have any mommy friends? If not, you'll probably make some at classes. I like to keep some days open for meeting for coffee or just going to the park or pool. It's easy to keep busy when you SAH. It will be different but if you do a few classes, you'll be set.
