So evidently normally the social worker comes to introduce herself and give pregnant women information at my hospital. So she came in today, introduced herself, and saw my husband. She then asks, "Oh is this a family friend?" I almost died. Normally you'd assume that a man in the room is the dad right?? I think she thought I was a teen mom and my husband was much older...well he is. But I mean he's 30, not 50. I think him being Korean and me being Hispanic also threw her off. It was a very awkward 15 minutes. Anyone else have awkward stories?
Re: Awkward social worker at ob appt
Wow, that's super awkward . . . points to you for not flipping out!
Who brings an older male friend to an ob appointment with them?
Eleanor 9.30.13
Hahaha I know right? She just treated me like I was a super poor teen parent who had no idea about pregnancy. I just nodded and smiled and exchanged looks with my older male
friend. ;p
Kitty! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I sensed she was a moron, and cut her some slack lol.
They visit all the OB patients at least once to give out information and resources at ours.
Thankfully they aren't too pushy. It was just awkward lol. Just because I look 16 doesn't mean I'm not a college graduate and an office manager.
Curious! I'm so curious to see if they do this at my hospital, too. It's probably not a bad idea. Around here, the only time they come around is if there's like suspected abuse/neglect or need for info about public programs. Like, one came to talk to my cousin once because her son accidentally took her anti-anxiety pill instead of his ADHD med.
