WWJ12D?

This may be long so I apologize now!
We have a cat, Sophie. She is aggressive towards... everyone and everything. Well, we are moving June 24 then turning around August 12 and heading to Ft.Worth until October. Here is my problem.
I dont want to take her to Lafayette, put her in a new place and then leave her there for 2 months. I also have no one down there that can check on her. Here is my other possible option... which I must add is no way ideal.
I can leave her here in the mobile home. My mom and best friends sister, who is in vet school, can check on her everyday. K, the vet, can make sure health wise she is ok. Cats are naturally stressed animals you know. Either way, her stress level will be through the roof. I just dont know what to do. No one will keep her because she is so hateful to others.
Any suggestions? It really doesnt look like I have any good options!

Re: WWJ12D?

  • pets are family.  i would never leave a pet behind.

i would take her with you and maybe talk to a vet about putting her on some anti anxiety meds to help her deal with all the moves.  that is probably your best solution.

This. I would find a way to take her with you to Ft. Worth. She will be a lot less stressed being with you- her owner,  than being a lone and random people stopping in and out to check on her.

If I could take her to Ft.Worth, I would NEVER leave her here. Thats just not an option. We will be in a non pet friendly hotel room. I feel like moving her to Lafayette then leaving her in a strange place would be worse on her. Also, we have done every kind of anxiety med for her. She is just batshizz crazy!

I agree.  This sounds like a situation where meds would be really helpful.  I know it will be stressful to move her but it would be just as stressful to leave her behind alone.  GL!

Could you use a pet sitting service?  I know we have a couple in our town.  I have never checked on the price but they might be expensive.....

I just looked a couple up. 1530 dollars an hour. Which is fine Im just worried about her attacking them. I may call her and talk to her. It weirds me out a little of a stranger in my house with me 8 hours away. But Im running low on options. I also dont want anyone to get the idea I dont care for my pet. She is my first child and Ive had her 6 years. This is just new for me and Im looking for options that I may not have thought of yet...

  • The hotel is booked and paid for by the company. We have absolutely no say in it. We looked it up and there are no pets allowed. If they were allowed, no question, she would be with us...

  • So I have no pets but my inclination would be leaving her in your mobile home since its her most familiar environment and she would be looked after by people she knows, even if she doesn't like them.
