NBR: Vacation Suggestions

First, this is by no means a 'Babymoon' or 'Babycation', just wanting to get away for a few days with our 2 DDs. Has anyone ever used sites like Priceline, Hotels.com, etc? If so, do they genuinely save you money? The girls and I are putting together a 'Vacation Proposal' for DH and I know the determining factor will be money, so any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

  • You can save a lot of money with Hotwire but you don't find out the specific hotel until you book it. You do get the area and star rating though. I think it works the same way with flights. You don't know the airline or exact time but you have a ballpark.

  • I've used priceline before and had an awesome experience. I got a great hotel room for $69 (in Scottsdale AZ). We got there really late bc we flew from the East Coast and all they had left was a villa for us. We totally lucked out. It was awesome!

This. I've gotten pretty good hotel deals using both Groupon and Living Social.

  • I've found that using those sites are no help. Honestly if you just call hotels you get about the same price as what the sites charge.

Yeah try Groupon and Living Social. I've never bought a hotel package through them, but their prices seem really good.

This! And sites like it, like LivingSocial, have a bunch of vacation deals, too. We are looking at staying in Savannah for a weekend this summer and I just got a deal from them for $65 nightly hotel stays at a hotel that's usually $160. Just check the fine print for hidden fees and black out dates on these types of deals.

  • do you want to fly?  we just flew into tampa reallllllllly inexpensively, and drove an hour south to Siesta Key-- it was AMAZING and would be great for kids

  • I have used kayak and Travelocity with some pretty good luck. Before you commit to anything call the hotel yourself and see what they charge. If the website is cheaper book there if not book directly through the hotel. I don't do Priceline.
