Ive noticed my stomach tightening off and on for a while now but it never bothered me or came to my attention that anything could be wrong. I went to labor and delivery last week because my low back was hurting me, they said i was having contractions but they were irregular and nothing to worry about. The nurse said to come back in if I experienced all these different things and one was if the "contractions" were every 8 to 10 min or had more than 4 in a one hour period. Ever since I came home from labor and delivery Ive been worried about my stomach feeling tight. I notice it always seems tight like all the time. Other times it will kinda tighten up(painless) and do it on and off a pretty good bit. I timed it the other night and its hard to tell when its happening for sure but I noted 8 times within 1 hour. Is this normal? Could it be related to gas? Or could this be early stages of preterm labor?? Im hoping some other mamas or mamas to be have experienced this and can help me out. I dont wana be that paranoid woman going in and out of labor and delivery every week for no reason!
Re: 29 weeks Braxton Hicks 1st baby
Im 39 weeks and having HORRIBLE contractions. I started out with Braxton Hicks around when you did. I thought these were it too but mid wives say theyre real contractions and can last for weeks before the real deal.
I wouldnt worry about preterm labor. Your body is just preparing thats all
I've been having BH contractions for several weeks. I am having NSTs twice weekly due to high BP, and it always shows several contractions. I asked my doctor about it because everything I'd read said to call if you have more than four an hour and I'm definitely having more than that. She said not to worry about it - it's not active labor and I will know when I get to that point.
If they become noticeable timeable then drink two big glasses of water and lay on your left side.
Baby can also make your stomach feel hard though as well. If I have to even question if its a BH then I don't pay attention to it. The ones I time I can feel build, hold then release.
ETA: I've had true contractions this time around from 33 wks on and they are most definitely different then my BH.
I'm having the same I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and have been having a lot of BH - the doc asked and I told him - and he said "Are they anything you have to stop and pay attention to?" and that clarified for me - definitely not.
