Fluid level check?

I am due July 4th so I mainly hang out on the July board, however my c-section is scheduled for June so I do hang out here as well. Anyways, I wanted to ask here since you all are further along. Is anyone having to have ultrasounds for fluid checks? I had a growth ultrasound last Monday due to my fundal height being two weeks small. It turns out my girl was only measuring in the 16th percentile, and my fluid was at a 10 last Monday. My Dr said that was good but she wanted to recheck my fluid this week. My apt was yesterday and my fluid was at 8, she says if it reaches 5 they would do my c-section right away. She said 8 is still okay and that the fluid does fluctuate some. So I am getting it remeasured next Monday, plus they'll recheck her growth to see if she maintained 16th percentile over the two weeks. I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this and actually had the fluid level go back up? It's just so hard not to worry about it since I am so close to what my Dr says is a bad level. I really hope it's back up on Monday and that she has grown a lot!

Re: Fluid level check?

  • Try not to worry too much just stay very hydrated! I had my LO at 36 weeks due to low fluid. I was measuring fine until my 34 week appt and then my fluid went down. My LO was measuring in the 20th percentile and they were worried she wasn't thriving so I had an emergency csection at 36 weeks. My LO is perfectly healthy. She did not need to go to the NICU. She was on the small side at only 4lbs 15oz but now 4 weeks later she's 6lbs and is perfect. I was so worried and scared she would not be ok but like I said she was perfect. The 2 weeks before my csection I was told to stay hydrated and rest and that would help my fluid levels. The only advice I can give you is try not to stress about it and drink lots of water! Good luck:

  • While I was sick in the hospital before I had DS, my fluid dropped to five at my routine u/s. They checked me the next morning and it had gone back up to 7.6, but then dropped to 5 the next day which is when they decided to do my CS.

  • I've had weekly fluid checks since 35 weeks. The levels really do vary week to week. Don't worry too much.

I am dealing with that now so I am getting induced today. My levels were an 8 then dropped to 6.5 a couple weeks later. I drank tons of water and my levels went back to an 8. Just drink as much as you can and get lots of rest :
  • Thank you ladies!! I am drinking 80oz+ of water daily as I am always thirsty, and I am doing my best to get extra rest. I just really hope she can stay inside till my scheduled c-section.

  • My fluids were checked today and I also got a 10 and my lo is measuring in the 29th percentile. I'm worried and confused as well

  • Drink lots of water. I've measured small this whole pregnancy so I get a growth scan every few weeks. My fluid was down at 19 weeks because I was dehydrated and I ended up spending the night in the ER getting re-hydrated via. IV. Try to drink 60-70oz of water a day.
  • They check my fluid weekly at my NSTs. It's a tricky thing to measure, so variation is normal.
