July 2013 Moms

ugh I'm torn

I love this idea and I kind of want to get something for Eliza to help her ease into the transition but 35 bucks is a bit steep for this in my opinion. Thoughts?

  • I get these as newborn gifts for a lot of my friends, their kids love them. My friend read it so many times to her son she had to buy a new one because it fell apart after 3 years!

  • I love this idea. So cute.  It's a steep price but it's something I'm guessing she'll keep for a long time. I might be stealing this idea.

Right!? It's great but 35 bucks just for a book. Meh I think it's overpriced.

  • Could you just get a generic Big Sister book, but then make her an award ribbon for outstanding achievement in Big Sisterhood?

And I love going to the local bookstore to find used books to save money. Might be something children's consignment shops might carry too.

  • I think it's a sweet idea:)  After leaving my maternity shoot consultation a little while ago I don't think $35 is too much, lol.
  • I really like it too, but whew mercy the price!

  • A family friend grabbed a book called "Getting Ready for New Baby" for me to read to my daughter. It was a little advanced for us I think. Check it out

  • She already has a big sister book. I liked the personalized factor. There are coloring books I could get for much cheaper that are also personalized. I don't know. I want to get her something. Just not sure what.

Jigga what! They got doggy style all wrong! =)

Also, never, ever would I read this to my child. Maybe we'd have this discussion at like 8-10, but any child under that age would get a much higher level version. Something like when a Mommy loves a Daddy...

I don't know if you're crafty at all, but could you make/write your own?

Yes but I'm working on stuff for Isaac and I don't know when I would get to it. Which is awful because she will use it before I think Isaac would use his projects.

I would shop for another Big Sister book. I'm sure there are lots of cute ones out there and you could make a Big Sister badge or medal. I made DS a Big Brother bag w/ a $3 applique and canvas bag from Hobby Lobby. I filled it with his favorite things from the Dollar Store and plan on adding a book and badge of some sort. If you're in love with the book I'd spring for otherwise I'd keep looking.

I like this idea. Hobby Lobby or Joanns for a cheap tote I could decorate and fill is a really good idea and wouldn't take long.

Lol! The things they published in the 90's! I think I'd give this book to my daughter when sending her off to college.
Meims, I also think you should make something since you're crafty. The book is really cute, but it seems overpriced.
  • A friend got us this:

Inside, there are places for him to write down things (which he's too young for) but he loves seeing the picture of himself - probably more than if it was personalized with a name.
