So I get a call-back from ortho and even after checking on it the stupid insurance company wants MORE proof for DD's braces - she was measured 3 months ago! There is a letter of medical necessity along with other notes, ortho is writing more notes for them but it makes me mad.
Also, even though it is standard in most hospitals, they won't let DD stay the night after her endo/pH probe placement because "insurance won't cover it." So after checking with our local Ronald McDonald House and finding they only have 6 rooms total here - it looks like a hotel room so we are close if it comes out or if she pulls it out.
I work in a place where if you are drunk and fall down on your face, it's covered or it's a loss - but kids who need help, support, parents who have no one to hold their hand can 't get it because the place they work for who bought out the damn insurance won't cover it. Sorry I am just pissed today.
Re: Insurance sucks vent
Don't apologize!
I noticed, as children (especially those with hidden disorders) get older (3yo+) insurance coverage tends to fade out - its so sad!
I'll add to your vent.
I had to call and confirm our OT coverage, which is unlimited w/ an ASD dx and not subject to the normal 25 visit limit.
I logged into THEIR website to confirm. When I called we went back and forth for 10 mins, with the agent claiming it was going to be a 25 visit limit. I had to direct them, on their own website, to where the verbiage was that said there was no limit.
response?
"Oh, please hold for a minute".
Seriously?
Oh I would but since said company is both my employer, service provider with no other options per they own their own health insurance - I can't until fingers crossed Monday after an interview this week with another actually good hospital closer to home. But when this does happen a wonderful magical news story will be leaked; especially on how they tx employees AND the pay cut for all "clinical" staff goes in effect in 4 days.
Soon....soon.
