WWYD: Hair/ salon question

Sorry I'm being a PW today.

So a couple weeks ago I went and had my hair highlighted for the second time with this girl who I really liked. I had a groupon the first time to try the place out and she did a great job.

I liked what she did the second time too although less than a week later it completely faded and didn't even look like there were highlights on the top of my head (the entire crown area). For $150 I thought this was ridiculous. (not to mention it was ridiculous that the highlights cost $150 without even a haircut, but anyway....)

So I called and the lady who answered made me another appointment and said to come in and she'll have the girl fix it.

I go in again a few days ago to have her fix it. She makes up some excuse on why it faded and then even said I had amazing growth which could have explained it too. Major hair growth in less than a week?? I don't think so.

So she quickly adds more highlights to the crown area, washes my hair out and combs it so I'm sitting there with it dripping wet. My hair is really long right now too. So she asks if I want her to blow dry it. Um yeah.....

She blow dries it and was pretty rough and used such high heat it was burning my scalp. I've never had such a painful blow dry before! It was really odd.

Then afterward she says she's not going to charge me for the highlights but she's charging me for the blow dry - $30!!!

I paid and didn't say anything except I thanked her for fixing my hair. But now after talking to a friend of mine who had a similar experience this week, I'm really upset over the whole thing. My friend had to have her hair redone as well and they didn't charge her anything and they dried her hair. A different salon of course.

I don't think I'm ever going back to this one again. I've been having my hair highlighted for over 15 years now and not once have I ever been charged for them to blow dry my hair.

Part of me wants to call and talk to the manager and tell her why I'm never coming back and suggest that they tell people ahead of time how much they are charging them for a blow dry. If she had told me I wouldn't have gotten her to dry it. Also since she was fixing a mistake shouldn't she have just dried it and not charged for it? ugh.

What should I do? Let it go? It's a lot of money and I tipped her both times really well too.

YEP! And after doing so, I would call and let them know how displeased I was and why, and then let them know that I linked the YELP review to my facebook and twitter. GOOD DAY!

Thanks ladies! Ok I'll call and talk to the manager. It was the same girl who screwed up who redid it and charged me too. I was going to go to yelp but thought I'd call them first and see what they say.
  • Call and complain!

Same thing happened to me kind of... When I was younger I used to go to this high end salon in my area, technicolor. I got highlights but didnt want a cut. They said that they blow dry for free with a cut but not with just high lights! I literally left with dripping wet hair! The girl kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want it blow dried... Um hello! I'm not paying for a blow dry after paying an outrageous amount for highlights! Rip off!
