Babies: 9 - 12 Months

One of these days ...

... I'm going to record a random phone conversation I have with DH's Granny, and post the transcript on here. I swear, I love the woman so much, but it takes an act of Congress to get her off the phone.

She called a minute ago to ask if the baby and I were coming over for Sunday brunch, and it literally took 20 MINUTES to get off the phone with her. She talked about what new church Uncle Paul is going to, and whether or not she wanted to go with him, and Christmas shopping, and how she can't find the Wii Fit anywhere for Aunt Sheryl, and maybe she'll just get a gift card to Game Stop, or maybe Target instead, and what do I think about putting white lights on the tree this year instead of colored (of course she doesn't give me time to respond)...

lol ... like I said, I love the woman wholeheartedly, but WOW. I usually make DH take her calls, lol.

  • LOL.

My MIL is the same way. I can tell her 50 times I have to get off the phone but she just keeps on talking. I rarely answer her calls anymore...Stick out tongue

  • Is she related to my DH's Aunt Brenda? This woman is so sweet, but is known throughout the family for her ridiculous phone calls.  She once called and left me a message telling me she was bringing her grandson over to meet DS.  She then started talking about how men talk on the phone and don't tell her things and how another of DH's aunts was sick and she wasn't able to see them when they went on their trip to NC.  It was crazy...at least 10 minutes and this was on my voicemail.  She has also been known to been cut off by the voicemail, call back to explain what happened and that she needs to say bye, get cut off again, and call back again.  Luckily she doesn't call me that often.

And she wonders why her 4 daughters would rather talk to their father on the phone.

  • This sounds like DH's grandfather. DH called him Thursday night just to check in and was on the phone with him for over an hour. And DH is not a phone person. I was walking in and out of the room he was in, and every time I passed DH, he was listening and not talking. I never answer the phone when his number comes up on the caller ID.

  • my grandmother is the same way.  My grandfather passed away last year and she is lonely so she loves to talk to people.  She will talk to anyone, she just wants to talk since she lives alone.  I think it's sweet.  She calls me every week telling me what she read in the real estate section (I'm an agent).  And our calls last around 20 minutes also Smile

  • Lol, this is funny!  While it's not over the phone, conversations with my grandma are, well, funny.  We think she has Alzheimers and while she's pretty clear sometimes, most often she's not, but she means well.  She'll ask you the same question 10 times within 5 minutes.  I just answer her like it's the first time she asked me.  I know she gets frustrated, but she's my grandma so I can't imagine getting frustrated with her.  She knows she does it and we can joke about it.
