Meal planning, help!

Alright, so hubby will be gone from the 13th-21st. His work gives him a $30/day gift card to eat while he is there ($270 this trip). The first time he went away he had a full kitchen in his hotel room, and we did not pack him stuff to cook, as we had no clue! The second time he went away he figured they would do the same. He packed a pot, utensils, soap, towel, etc to cook on an assumed stove. Nope, there was only a fridge.

He is going to the same town again, same hotel. So.

What are your go-to, no cooking needed meals? They serve a huge free breakfast for hotel guests, so he just needs lunch and dinner.

  • This is a toughie. Does he like peanut butter sandwiches? Tuna to Go kits are easy and don't need to be refrigerated. Apple or banana with peanut butter, trail mix, if he eats it quickly, chips and salsa.

I just saw a Pinterest idea thing that had snacks that didn't need to be refrigerated. If I'm able to get on the laptop in a little bit ill give you a link.

  • The only thing he has is a fridge! Which helps!

    So far I have

    Lunches

Fruits, and pre-chopped vegetables to munch on.
Lunch meat, cheese slices, bread and presliced tomato and lettuce for sandwiches.
    Peanut butter and jelly.
    Cheese and crackers w/pepperoni.
    Tuna to-go containers - thanks!

Dinner is what stumps me. Tempted to go get him a cheapo $30 micro for him to take up there with him. So he can microwave soups, chili, etc.

  • Buy an Electric Hot Pot, the old college staple (at least when I was there).

You can heat up soups, chilis, make macaroni and cheese, and boil any kind of noodles.

Oo, that is awesome!!! I am going to have to get him that. Much easier to pack than a micro :]

  • Will he eat salads?  We sometimes buy salad mix and a cooked rotisserie chicken and eat on that for a day or two.

Sorry I miss read that he has a fridge! I think some type of plug in appliance would be helpful! In college I used a rice cooker and steamer for dinners.

  • I bet the hotel has a microwave he can use.  Probably found in the breakfast area.
