We are going to finish up our nursery this coming Saturday and I can't decide what to do about one part of the room. I'm hoping I can explain with words and pictures and get opinions from you lovely ladies!
In the end the wainscoting will look like this:
I also want to put up front facing bookshelves using Ikea racks like this:
Option 1 is putting wainscoting around the whole room and putting the bookshelves up in this corner on the wainscoting. This would make a little reading corner. My worry here is that eventually we'll want to move the bookshelves, then we'll have holes in the wainscoting.
Option 2 is to stop the wainscoting in the corner (we'd add a finishing piece the corner) and paint this whole wall yellow. So only 3 walls in the room would have wainscoting. Then we'd put the bookshelves up, painted white, and more like the picture shown above.
ETA: Sorry I can't figure out how to get the last 2 pictures so they aren't sideways!

Re: Nursery Opinion- PIP and Clicky
Oh, that's a nice idea too. Would it look funny to have two different levels of wainscoting though?

I definitely appreciate all opinions. I'm hoping when I paint the bookshelves white, they'll fit in nicely with the room. I also left out that we have a 9 compartment shelf that will have teal fabric bins and wicker bins to match the crib that will add to the whimsical feel of the bookshelves along with the traditional wainscoting. I just never know what will be best, designing is so hard!

Good. I did not want to offend you, but like I said I am terrible at decorating. I do not have an eye for it at all. LOL. Designing is stressful for me.
I wonder if they make front facing corner bookshelves. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the idea!

Do you have the wainscotting already?
If not, what if you just painted the lower portion of the wall a lighter yellow than the top, with a white chair rail around the room to separate it and then put the book shelves wherever you wanted? It's a more modern look to wainscoting and not as heavy.
