Hi all,
Any recommendations on a great video monitor? I will find one I love, and read reviews, and the reviews drive me nuts because I can only focus on the negative ones even with all the good ones. My husband and I are "tech savvy" And I was looking into Babyping (Where you can monitor through iPhone/iPad), but after reading certain reviews it makes me too nervous.
That being said, do you ladies love any of your video monitors? I like the idea of night vision, and want it to be most of all RELIABLE! We just started our registry and its the most overwhelming thing!
Re: Video monitors?! Help! (reviews drive me nuts)
This model doesn't but I think they do have one that has that feature.
The video monitor that we have doesn't allow you to watch the baby when you are outside the house but there are some that let you do that. You would only be able to see the areas that are within the monitor's line of sight either way though.
We got ours when DD was an infant. I liked the extra peace of mind of being able to see her rather than just hearing her. Also, with the monitor that we have, I can actually see her breathing! For a nervous new mom, it was nice to have that extra reassurance without having to go into her room and risk waking her. Also, if she was just stirring, I could see whether she was settling back to sleep or whether she was really awake. You can't really do that with the audio-only monitors.
Now, DD is 2.5 years old and we still use the monitor. I like it because she often likes to play alone in her room. So, I can be in the kitchen making dinner or something and I can just peek in on her without leaving what I'm doing. It gives her some independence and gives me the ability to keep an eye on her without hovering. Also, because we have multiple cameras and the cameras move, we can pretty much see her whole room. So, during nap or at night, we can always see where she is in her room even if she gets out of her bed.
I don't know if all WIFI models are the same, but with this one only one person could watch at a time, so in order for someone to look at the baby away from home, the person in the home would not be able to monitor baby. That didn't make a whole lot of practical sense to me.
