This morning when I woke up I realized my baby monitor wasn't on..so I went to check on DS and he is screaming hysterically. I realized that his leg was stuck in his crib...like really stuck. I started to freak out for a few minutes because I could not get it out (I eventually wiggled it out). It is pretty bruised up and swollen now. I know I got up about 2 hours before this happened and I didn't hear him crying..so I know it wasn't stuck all night, but it was stuck for possibly 2 hours. I seriously feel horrible!!!!
Anyways, what should I do so it doesn't happen again? Is there anything I can do? I know bumpers aren't recommended, but at this age I think they would be ok. However, I am not sure they would really do anything...besides give him leverage to climb out of the crib. Ugh!!
Re: leg stuck in crib
I have one also and have only had a limb sticking out when he's been standing up. Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby have them also.
Get some bumpers. Really, it's okay. If your babe can move around at all, I am pretty sure he can turn his face to breath and avoid suffocating. Just make sure they are secured properly, and your good to go.
We've had regular bumpers on since about 3 months (ah, the horror!).
