Hi! I'm 5 months postpartum and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I will be taking synthroid starting tomorrow. My doctor said that weightloss may be challenging with a hypothyroid problem. Has anyone experienced this and had success losing weight with hypothyroidism? Please let me know your thoughts...As if losing the baby weight wasn't difficult enough
Re: Weight Loss with Thyroiditis (hypothyroidism)??
I have been dx hypo for a year (and prob had it much longer). I gained 50lbs after showing serious symptoms and have gone from a sz 8 to a sz 14. I am 2 months into going gluten free because I read a lot of positive things about going gluten free for Hashi's patients. I have read mixed info about caloric intake for hypo patients. Some say as long as you are medicated, you should eat like a normal person dieting and others say treated hypo patients still need fewer calories. I have been eating between 1000 and 1200 calories a day and still not success.
I think all hypo patients react to dieting and exercise a little differently. Good luck! I hope you find what works for you!
