I had a C section 18 months ago.
My recovery was good, no complications.
Two things:
1. I still get up to pee twice a night. No matter how much I drink or don't drink before bed. Anyone else? I don't know if it's pregnancy related or c section related. And I do Kegels!
2. I get intermittant bladder pain. I do have a Mirena IUD, and I do wonder if that could be related (I am getting it out), but I of course worry about adhesions as a result of my c setion and wonder if it's related. Anyone else?

There is this thing called Interstitial Cystitis that I had pretty bad before I got pregnant. It is a lack of mucus in the bladder lining that allows the urine to irritate the bladder, which causes pain. The reason it hurts is because of the acidity of your urine. So if you chug a bunch of OJ and cranberry juice you will bleed like I did once before I knew that I had IC and thought I just had a bladder infection. I used elmiron for a few months and had bladder instillations to make my bladder feel better while the lining healed. My IC was caused by hormones and it went completely away when I got pregnant.
If you want to do a little experiment to see if you might have this easy to treat issue you can put yourself on a low acid diet, or the IC Diet. The idea with the IC Diet is that by eating less acid your urine will not irritate your bladder as much (if you have IC), which will reduce your pain. After only a few days on the diet my bladder felt much better. If you don't have IC the diet will do nothing. Alternatively you could drink a big glass of OJ and then see if you have to pee right after, but not much pee will come out. But if you try the OJ test you might make yourself bleed and the IC will take longer to heal so it might not be a good idea.

As long as you don't eat ice cream and sugar every day the diet is actually really healthy. It involves low acid food and drink preferably free of preservatives, alcohol, caffeine, and pesticides. If my IC comes back after I have my baby I will go on the IC diet again because it's so effective for mild to moderate IC.
Good luck. I hope your bladder feels better soon.
