Re: Pregnancy Check In

  • Hi all, just got my BFP yesterday and will go in to clinic on Wednesday for confirmation blood test. I'm not sure if I believe I'm pregnant yet... it's so strange to want it and want it and then get it. I was planning for a longer road (though very relieved by this!). I'm having slight nausea that comes and goes- early, I know!- as well as major appetite. Trying to enjoy the relative symptomless moment, because if this pregnancy is like my last, I'm about to suffer for 9 months!

  • Things are ticking along for us. A little too fast to be honest. I've been recently freaking out about not having registered yet. I'm meeting a good friend and two under 2 mom at target just to walk the aisles and decide on some initial registry items. Also, we picked out some bedding for the room which is good! I'm feeling the baby every day, but I'm not really counting yet. My belly feels very itchy and I know that I've definitely headed into the growth spurt I had been warned about including being super starving all the time but then when I eat I'm super full super fast. Lol!!!! But yeah, the belly is getting big! Overall still feeling great though and enjoying my last two weeks or so of 2nd tri! I just can't believe how fast this time goes!

We told my SIL the day we found out. We waited about 10 weeks to tell very good friends just because of timing. I told some work people at around 13 weeks and didn't tell my family until 19weeks. Again, situational for me... But we apparently had a tiered approach. Lol. I just didn't want to tell my family and then have a loss and them say well, you deserved it or that was God's will or something terrible like that.

  • Congrats candimc!  It is always nice to see new people moving over to the preg check in. Yay!

We are doing fine, I cannot believe we are at 16 weeks already.  The second trimester is wonderful compared to my first.  I have just started feeling the little man squirm around down there, no real kicks yet, but it is pretty early.  We are starting to seriously consider our daycare options and talk abut pediatricians.  So things are starting to get "real" over here.... not that it wasn't before, but I think we are finally coming to the realization that in 5 months we may have a new little person at our house.

QOTD: We told immediate family after our first US at 8 weeks, then told extended family/friends at 12 weeks.

  • Ugh. Have not been feeling well at all. So much nausea and vomiting and constipation and fatigue. Have ultrasounds on Thursday and Friday both though, which I'm excited about. Thursday is the obgyn and Friday is the 9 weeks at the fertility clinic we went for 6 and 7 weeks too and heard both heartbeats!

I told everyone almost immediately this time. The other time I got pregnant, a few months ago, I had a miscarriage, so afterwards we did all kinds of tests. Everything came out negative as far as I was concerned, so it was clearly a chromosomal abnormality with the embryo. This time we tested both of the embryos before transfer, and they both came out chromosomally normal. It's a relief knowing everything should be ok and bring able to tell people. I can't imagine being this sick and not being able to tell people why!
  • Today was our 38/39 week appt. All seems to be well! I'm feeling really big and heavy, but still not terribly uncomfortable. I am so so so excited to meet our little guy though! Trying to keep focused on the fact that I'm not at my due date yet and it could be another 3 weeks until he arrives is difficult. On the flip side of that same coin, I really can't believe that this pregnancy is nearly over! It seems like the fastest human gestation ever! I will definitely miss seeing my belly roll and move around with his wiggles and kicks. He is so big now that I can not only feel his hiccups but I can see them with fairly vigorous tummy jumps.

We told some close friends and family immediately I got a positive test at 12 dpo. The rest of our families were told at 9 weeks and everyone else at 12 weeks.

I have been exhausted. I am usually not a napper, so it's weird to fall asleep in the middle of the day. Also queasy every now and then. But staying strong. Can't wait for our first prenatal appt in a couple weeks.

Qotd we told some close friends almost right away. There's a handful that have been on the journey with us and it was hard not to tell. We just told my mom, aunt, and nana this past weekend, 6 weeks. We had everyone in person and I know they were all wondering. We told them in a fun way and they were all very excited. We will tell W's mom this month before going to see my family on the east coast in July. Once we hear a heart beat we will be so excited to tell everyone. I'm waiting at work to get a promotion that has been dragging on. It better hurry up tho!!!
  • I'm more pregnant than I've ever been and still feeling pretty good.  I have a bw appointment on Wednesday with my RE to check my estrogen levels (I am down to one pill a day and probably can stop if they are high enough) and then my first prenatal appointment with the midwife is Thursday.  I am both excited about the midwife appointment and afraid we will find out the pregnancy isn't viable.

QOTD: We had a handful of people we told when we got the positive test -- my wife told her sister and I told my closest friend.  We told two more friends at 5w because we were going on vacation with them.  We were going to wait to tell family after the u/s, and that is when we told mine, but my wife is terrible at keeping secrets and told her parents after our second or third beta.  Right now, only immediate family and close friends know, as well as my co-workers (they've known throughout the whole process what we were going through).  I can safely say there isn't anyone who knows now who I wouldn't feel comfortable telling about a m/c if we were to have another one.  I'd like to wait a little longer than 12w to tell the world, but I think my blabber mouth wife won't be able to wait a second longer.  I'll hit 12w on July 4th and I'm trying to figure out if there's some clever seasonal way to announce.

  • We are 10.5 weeks and just graduated from our RE.  We were able to see the baby dancing and waving weeks 9 & 10, which was amazing.  We are going to miss our weekly ultrasounds.  I have struggled with nausea but Zofran is a lifesaver.  I am eagerly awaiting the start of our 2nd trimester.  :)

We have only told our closest couple friends.  We had been going through TTC together and one of them is our pharmacist so it was obvious.  We plan on telling both of our families at 12 weeks followed by close friends.  Once that happens I am sure word will spread to most ppl.

You made me so excited about my upcoming week 9 ultrasounds! Thank you!!!!!
  • Hi everyone! I am 11 weeks 4 days and just graduated to the ob. I missed the ultrasound that I got weekly at the fertility clinic! I am also flip flopping between horrible nausea and suddenly starving like if I don't eat now I am not going to make it! I suppose that is good since I have lost 5 pounds since getting pregnant... Glad to join you ladies and I wish you all luck and healthy babies!

  • I've been super busy with some not really fun stuff, and some really nice stuff, so I'm hanging in there.

Pregnancy update is that we're 31 weeks and things are going smoothly. We did a relationship skills for parents class this past weekend and are enjoying our birth prep series. My dad is coming up this weekend to help around the house and celebrate Father's Day.

QOTD: We told a couple friends right away, but didn't tell family until around 11-12 weeks, we then told more friends, co-workers, etc. We never made a facebook announcement or anything along those lines, so there are still folks who are shocked that we're having a baby in a couple months.
