Kolcraft Contour tandem stroller

Anyone have any feedback? My son will be 22 months old when the baby is born in August. I am not a fan of the side by side strollers, though my husband is really stuck on a double jogger. I like the ease of the jogger, but am really not loving the width of the doubles. We tried this tandem out today at Burlington, and I think I love it. It's our price range, and it "seems" to push easily...

Any feedback would be helpful, thanks!

Re: Kolcraft Contour tandem stroller

  • I don't know this stroller but I have a tandem (graco) and a side by side (zooper).  The tandem was fabulous in the beginning and I used it as a snap and go really.  We are now using the side by side and the babies love it!  They can both see out and they can see eachother.  They hold hands, put their feet up....  I would just say that your 22 month old will obviously be up front, but in about 6 months, the baby may want to see things too.  You might get more out of a side by side.  Both the tandem and the SBS are a pain to push, and both get much harder with infant seats or people in them...  I got my tandem off craigs list - $40 and worth every cent!  I would try there first, and then you can buy one new once you get a feel for what you want.

    good luck!

I don't agree that all tandems and side by sides are hard to push.  There are a lot that are actually really easy to push but you have to spend the money.  I think you would be better off looking for something used.  You will also find that the side by sides are really not that much bigger than the tandem.  The difference on most of them is 4-5 inches.  In general, a side by side will push more easily than a tandem.

I would also make sure you put weight in the seats of the tandem when you push it around.  Most strollers seem awesome when there isn't 40 lbs of kid in there.   I like the Briatx B-Ready best for a tandem and they have a free ride event going on right now where you can get the stroller and second seat for around $375.

  • My 2 are 19 months apart. For trips where it's me and someone else I'm using our SnG and G luxe.

For the others I'm either baby wearing with the G luxe or using our Valco Snap Dual. It's a side by side and it fits through our front door. It is also easy to push. I was looking at Maclarens but this one is lighter weight than the one I was looking at and it has a HUGE basket. It also can be used for newborns without a car seat.

Does your husband jog? You can't jog with a newborn. If he is insistent on a jogging stroller? If he is I'd maybe get him to get you a sit n stand. Safety 1st has a new one where the infant seat sits in the back so you can still use the real seat up front for your 22 month old until they are ready to switch. It takes other seats like Chicco and Graco as well. It looks easier to use than the Contour.
