VBAC

Boston/Southern NH VBACers

Hi Ladies,

My family is in the early stages of relocating to the Boston area/southern New Hampshire (location will be determined by the company we decide to relocate with) so I am trying to do my due diligence now.

I am looking for a practice/hospital/midwife group that supports VBACs. I have a great doctor where I am located now and I want to make sure that we will be in good hands when we move. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Boston/Southern NH VBACers

  • I think most practices and hospitals in the area will allow VBACs.  Whether they are really supportive of it is another story.  I'm delivering with the AFA group (OB's and midwives) at Emerson hospital in Concord, MA, and have been extremely supportive so far.  Based on stories from others in the practice, they are very low-intervention, and really try to respect your wishes.

  • look at practices affiliated with Newton Wellesley Hospital or Mt. Auburn in Cambridge.

I delivered my DD at NWH via c-section and I'm very strongly considering a VBAC this time around. my dr. and the hospital in general are very supportive of my wishes/plans.

  • Awesome, thank you!! A friend recommended Newton Wellsley as well (although not from vbac experience) and I will definitely look into Emerson.

I want to make sure we have good options wherever we end up. Thanks for the input!

I delivered my previous 2 kids with a different practice (also at Emerson), and had a pretty bad experience with 1 of the doctors.  That's why I switched to AFA for this baby.

That said, all the nurses and facilities at Emerson have been wonderful, and I'm very happy to be delivering baby #3 there.
