I think the Gemini works better for newborns and young babies. The seat is narrower and you can make the seat really narrow for small babies. I think the ergo is better for older babies and small toddlers since the seat is wider.
I love the Ergo and it does have an infant insert you could buy. It's still comfortable and DS is almost 25 pounds. I do wish I could wear him forward facing in the front though, but it's not a deal breaker. I can't comment on using the Ergo with an infant since I used the Moby wrap. But if there is a #2, I will definitely be buying the insert. A good carrier is key in the very beginning.
I love my Gemini and I can use it either of my kids. I really like that they can forward face in it which was why I bought it. I don't use that carry all the time but I like the option.
We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!

The Ergo is more comfortable since it has better back support. However, when DS was an infant, he refused to sit in the infant insert since his legs were kind of jammed in there. He screamed every time I put him in. We ended up getting a Gemini and that worked great for him, even though it was a little harder for my back. That said, it still worked fine. I was able to take hour long walks with him in it without my back hurting (and I have back problems).
I switched to using an Ergo when DS was about 8 months.
You should go try the Ergo and see if your LO would sit in there with the infant insert.
I love the Gemini! It's been great for my DD. Used it when she was a newborn and continue to use it now. I like the options for front/back and it's comfortable to me. My DD is pretty big, and no issues with the size. GL!

I had an ergo and sold it for a Gemini! I love the Gemini so much better. It is easier to put on. There are two ways to wear the straps, unlike the Ergo. Baby can face out, unlike the Ergo AND it is safe for the baby. It is a wider seat than say, a Bjorn, which is a terrible crotch dangler. My LO sits great in it.
The Gemini is also lighter than the Ergo and doesn't require an infant insert.
