Has anyone here done Hypnobirth? What were your experiences with it? I'm seriously considering it! Sorry if it's been asked before, I don't feel like digging through the archives
I did the classes, read the book and have been listening to the meditation tracks since I was 5 or 6 months pregnant with my first.
I didn't necessarily use the techniques actively in either of my first two labors/births, but the course gave me the courage, knowledge and confidence to give birth naturally both times - which I plan to do again in September!
I think the best part of the course is how it really mentally prepares you for being relaxed and going with the flow and, most importantly, tuning out any negative stories or sentiments people try to bestow on you!

I'd agree with this - I used it for early and active labor for #2 - and am doing a refresher with my doula for #3 (she's an instructor, too) Though I can't say my actual birth part was anything like the videos we watched, I got through it with the confidence and letting-go-of-fear tactics practiced in the classes.
Yes, I thought it was amazing! The key with hypnobirthing is being open to the message and practice, practice, practice. If you don't have time to devote to practicing outside of what you get from the class then Hypnobirthing will not be effective.
I, too, had a great experience with Hypnobirthing. I took the courses in person, and practiced at home with the affirmations and visualizations. It helped me really clear my mind and go to a "deeper" place where I could ride out labor. I had a 24 hour Pain med free birth augmented with pitocin.
I plan on doing a refresher course for this baby. So excited for another pain med free birth, this time, hopefully W/O Pitocin ;P
Thanks so much for the responses, ladies! They're very helpful, and they're giving me a lot of confidence. How much did the courses cost? My hospital offers them, but they don't have a price listed. I'm just wondering so I'm not surprised later.

Ours was $350. Check with your insurance, they may cover some of it. I also believe it qualifies as Flex Spending.
