Hello ladies I posted this on my local board too but didn't get much feedback, thought you ladies may be able to help. I'm looking for a pediatrician in the Syracuse area that is supportive of a more natural approach to treating my kids. TIA
No, I would however like to use a delayed Vax schedule but I also mean not answering every little problem with a prescription and using more homeopathic remedies.
No traditionally trained doctor will embrace homeopathy. Find a naturopath, and if you want alternative medicine advice take your kid there. When you need a more traditional Western approach, go to the pedi. The odds of finding one practitioner that uses both alternative and Western medicine is really, really, really slim.
I think many people use a suite of professionals to care for themselves and their children. I'm a pretty mainstream person, but I see a chiropractor for some issues and my doctor for others.
I just don't take my kids in much. They get there well child checks and vaccines but unless they have something really serious which thank god in the five years I have been a mom has yet to happen . I treat what I can at home . My kids only get colds none of them has had anything more then that so I guess I have been lucky but still you have to use your judgment to and let them know you'd like a more holistic aproch if possible . I know that allot of pediatric recommendations in regards to prescribing things such and antibiotics are changing and more and more pedis are limiting the amount of proscriptions there giving out .
Look around for someone who practices "integrative medicine", they are .ore open to alternative therapies. We went to one that was a family practice when DS1 was a baby, and they were great.
You can also look for a doctor who's initials after his name are DO instead of MD. A DO is a Doctor of Osteopathy, and they are much more likely to encourage natural methods of healing, but can still provide prescriptions and do everything a MD can. My regular family doctor is a DO and the difference is astounding!
