iui

we have been waiting to get to this point for 3 months! We finally had our first IUI today! I just have some questions for those of you that have been here before.  I have had some cramping (not too bad) and been very gaseous. Is this normal? And what do we do to get through the TWW?

Any other advice

Re: iui

  • Congrats on beginning your journey! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I had my first IUI in March, but did not notice any discomfort afterwards. However, the TWW was the worst lol.DW and I tried to stay distracted as much as possible, perhaps plan some date nights! And do your best not to stress or read into things too much. So excited for you, keep us posted!!

  • So exciting! I had slight cramping because I had ovulated that morning, but they said that you may have the cramping from the catheter. We had our first iui last month. The TWW was hard. I definitely was stressed about it. This time I am going to try not to have all of my thoughts revolve around ttc. I agree with YB,plan date nights and continue your routine. I will be with you on the tww by the end of the week. GL

  • Congrats on your first IUI.  I had a little bit of cramping after my 3rd IUI, it is normal.  Some women have some cramping and some don't.  You likely will over analyze every little pinch/pull/symptom that you have over the next few weeks.  I know that I did.  The TWW is hard.  It sucks.  But try to stay busy and not focus on every little symptom... if that is even possible.  Finally on my third IUI I let myself relax during the TWW, wasn't so strict on my diet, caffeine, even drank a glass of wine after a rough day at work.  And that was the cycle that worked for us.  Good luck, let us know how everything goes.

    Congrats on your first IUI!

I have had cramping after all three of my IUIs. Everyone's body reacts differently, and apparently I am just a cramper! HAHA - which is a little strange b/c I never cramped much at all during my cycles before TTC, but that has definitely changed for me. Anyway, I think that the cramping is totally normal for some, as is the gas (I had that too). There isn't much you can do about it except try your hardest not to obsess. Date nights are a great idea! My first TWW was the longest by far, so unfortunately I am willing to bet that this one will feel like a struggle to get through -- hopefully not though, and hopefully you will have success! Wishing you lots of luck! :)

  • FX for you!! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. I made sure to stay busy... I was in the middle of party planning for a grad bbq and had family in town during TWW but I still seemed to always think about POAS more than anything. Hope it moves quickly for you
