if so, are you giving them Gerber or are you giving them regular whole cut oats...i'm conflicted since my little one likes both...I milled the whole oats and cooked it for a long time and gave it to him but uncertain if he should be getting the gerber stuff...
so what are you doing for oatmeal cereal?
Re: do you give your LO oatmeal
We use this too. I
Breastfed babies need the iron, but they can get it from other foods too. I like to give her a cereal mixed with a puree for breakfast.
Yes, I add milk still, usually before. If it's a really runny puree like melon, then I add a little after.
I use regular oatmeal (Old-fashioned), and I don't grind it. I just cook it the normal way (simmer in hot water for 5 minutes), then I turn the heat off, cover, and let it sit for a while longer. The oatmeal gets mushy enough that DS can eat it. He doesn't mind textured foods anyway. I make a batch to put in the fridge, and in the morning I microwave some to warm it up and mix with a little BM.
However, after doing this for weeks, DS now refuses to be spoon-fed. So I just give him a glob of the sticky, gooey oatmeal straight from the fridge, and he self-feeds himself.
Since the oatmeal has no flavor (I don't add salt), from now on, I'll cook the oatmeal with some fruit, so when it's cooled, it'll at least has some fruit/sweet flavor.

We feed DS Gerber cereal - we have a few different ones, rice with fruit, oatmeal an another one I can't think of. We usually try to give DS cereal in the morning, he gets number 2 purees for lunch and dinner.
