Paranoid

Yesterday I posted about the dry drowing article from the Today Show. Today I blocked the person who had posted it on Facebook. I didn't fall asleep last night until after 3am.

We had taken LO swimming last evening (before I read that article), and after reading that article I could not fall asleep. I must have checked on Elijah at least 20 times.

Has anyone else ever been this paranoid about something? Please tell me I am not completely insane.

Re: Paranoid

  • Yes yes yes! Recently a family from around here lost four of their five children in a house fire. I have been insanely paranoid about house fires ever since.

As for the article you posted, I read your comments about it and decided not to read it.

Hopefully we can both calm ourselves soon. This just comes with being a mom, I guess!

Yes, don't read it. I wish I had never seen it.

  • Absolutely! And actually, about this exact same thing. I actually already read that article a few weeks ago and almost responded when you posted but I was literally half asleep while reading. A few weeks ago, after giving Viv a bath I became paranoid because she seemed to be coughing a lot. She loves playing in the water and giggles like crazy when I pour it over her head so I kept doing it. I then started googling and came across the dry drowning article. I freaked out, was checking on her like crazy and didn't sleep at all that night. I almost called the doctor but my husband kept telling me I was nuts (it was not the first time I have been super paranoid about something). Well while I was googling all of this I found a lot of articles that addressed how rare it is to have this "dry drowning" occur and that was likely an isolated and very unfortunate situation in that article. Like a PP mentioned in your post last night, I feel like the media does a lot to freak us moms out.

So moral of the story is yes, I absolutely freak out about stuff but try not to worry too much :)
