baby shower

My friend is throwing a baby shower for another friend.  They recently adopted (DIA), and my friend was looking for ideas to incorporate how special adoption is into the shower somehow.  She is obviously thrilled for her friend, who had quite the journey to parenthood.  Any ideas?

    This is a poem I remember reading once - did a search online to bring it back up.

     

    Once there were two women

    Who never knew each other.

    One you do not remember,

    The other you call mother.

    Two different lives

    Shaped to make yours one.

    I once went to a 1st birthday party where the mom had created a beautiful box with the child's name on it, and set out pen and paper for folks to write letters to the little girl for her to read as she got older. I thought it was a sweet idea. Maybe your friend could do something similar?

     I attended a shower for a friend who had adopted (post placement). Someone had made a slide show of the adoption journey (including newborn pics, hospital pics, etc). It was set to music and played in a continuous loop in the background on a TV mounted above the fireplace during the shower. It was really beautiful.
