Homemade baby fooders

How are y'all doing the yellow summer squash. I know to steam or saut but do you puree or dice and freeze??

Re: Homemade baby fooders

  • I have baked it, pureed or diced and then froze!
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm still pureeing it because Aiden likes it with mixed with brown rice..I think I will have to try it diced up though! Do the pieces stick together after being freezed?

  • I mostly treat it like zucchini, steam and puree.  But I also serve it diced tiny.

  • I haven't had problems with sticking. I use small ziploc bags and don't overstuff. Leave space in the bag to help prevent sticking.
  • Thank y'all! This was a first for summer squash so I wasn't sure at all! Ill dice and also puree some then freeze!

You could freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once they're frozen you put them in a bag.

    Great Idea!!!! Thanks!!!

  • I bake in the oven and puree to a chunky consistency, then freeze.
  • I'm not putting anything into the freezer.   I just sautee and dice them for her at dinner.
