What are you doing for your nursery? Are you doing a theme? Are you focusing more on colors? We just found out we are having a girl, so I'm trying to narrow down what I like for the nursery and I'm not sure where to start. Thoughts?
We're not doing one for this baby because we only have a three bedroom and our two oldest daughters share and my son is in the third however for my sons room I found a bedding set I really loved and went from there. We already had the crib, changer and rocker so I didn't have to do much there . We used a theme for him to match the bedding of woodland animals . I painted trees and animals in his walls and made his cascading leaf mobile like the ones on etsy. I'm really into crafts and drawing so it was easy for me but if your not there are plenty of options on etsy to choose from and most are customizable .
I am a FTM, so I'd like to find a crib, and other furniture that I can use for all our children. We are considering 2 at least, maybe more once we see how this parenting thing goes. Do you think it is a waste to get a crib that converts into a toddler bed and a full size bed? Once one kid is a toddler we will probably start trying to have another one, so I don't know how useful that will be.
I'll have to go poke around etsy to see what I can find, I need some inspiration!
I knew I always wanted white baby furniture and a gender neutral nursery.
DH and I tried a number of different colors on the walls and didn't like any of them.
We finally decided on a yellow (kind of an orange-yellow). I went shopping for fabric for curtains and a crib skirt. I took the paint color and decided on some fabric with reds too.
So we have yellow, red and white. There are little animals on the curtains and the crib skirt is polka dots. No "specific theme". I think it is really turning out though.

We bought a convertible with our first thinking it was a good idea . Yeah not so much we ended up buying another crib for our second because our oldest was using the other one in the toddler bed mode. When we were expecting our third our second was in the toddler mode of her crib but we needed it so we moved her and her sister to bunk beds that we kept apart and side by side . She did just fine going from the crib to the twin. IMO if you plan on having your kids sharing a room eventually its best to buy standard crib and invest more into their more permant beds later on down the line when you know what your family and lifestyle needs are better . Id also skip the changer table and go for a good quality dresser and just put the changing pad on that for the time . That way you'll still have a good dresser once the child gets older and you don't have to buy another peice of furniture to fit your kids clothes better as they grow. If you think you'll use a rocker glider either get a really nice one you'd be willing to use somewhere else in your house once the child doesn't need it anymore or go cheap so you don't feel bad when you have to throw it out later. We got our glider with our second and its on its last legs now I'm hoping it makes it through this last kid . It was a cheepo from Walmart so I don't feel so bad letting it go.
That sounds adorable ! I like the idea of no real theme . You can add just about anything you come a crossed and it will fit right in plus it will grow good with the child. I kinda wish I would have done that with my sons room however he loves the animals on his walls right now .
I'm doing a color theme for my little boy's nursery. We're doing various shades of blue with lime green. It's a very "little boy" room. Lots of dinosaurs, monsters, and animals. I've been crafting like crazy!
Here's a link to our nursery, if you want to take a look. Not too themey in my opinion nd can definitely grow with him. Sorry the link isn't clicky-on my iPad. Just C&P into your browser.
We're having a little boy. The inspiration for the room started with pieced chevron quilt that I saw on project nursery. I found someone (since I have no sewing skills) who could make a similar quilt for our nursery in blue, orange, and yellow chevron. I choose to have the quilt made as more of a throw blanket size than baby size so that in a couple years I can put in on LOs toddler bed. Nursery is going to be primarily blue, orange and white with a little yellow. We are doing some themed dog decor. I'm going for a couple of modern dog prints from Etsy, a mobile made of stuffed weiner dogs (in fabrics from the bedding), and a stuffed scottie dog throw pillow. The overall goal is a modern nursery with a little bit of theme in the decor. I am hoping that this way the room will grow with LO.
We don't really have a theme but chose white, chocolate and mint green for our colors. If you aren't already on Pintrest, I recommend looking there for inspiration. They have tons of great ideas!
We didn't do a theme. We just picked some gender neutral stuff and went with it. Our bedding was brown and white dots and stripes, the walls were green, and we used lots of colorful accents everywhere.
we found out, that it's a boy. I am not really a "theme" room kinda person, so I found bedding in colors that I love and that will grow with the baby as he gets older. The colors are light blue, tan/brown, orange and cream. I am mixing all kinds of decor items together. So, a hamper from one collection, a blanket from another (the colors just have to match). I did not want a theme (like jungle) where the animals we chosen for me,,,,I wanted to make it unique, something that no one else has.

My blog-The Wino That I Know
If we have a girl, I'm going with pink/green and a bird theme. We will be buying the PBK Penelope crib sheets and basing everything off that.
If we have a boy, I'm going with a nautical theme. Probably blue/white/red.
