Hi mommas!
I have a c-section scheduled for tomorrow morning. Ill be 39w2d with twins and I was wondering what the chances may be that ill get there and be told that im being bumped for an emergency....? I understand that no one can definitively 'answer' this, im just curious if anyone has experienced this happening, where they have had theirs scheduled and ended up getting bumped. How long did you have to wait? i.e. a few hours, a day, a few days.......???
TIA!

With my emergency c section I didn't bump anyone because it was like 8 at night and with my scheduled I was delayed about an hour but that was because of my blood test before the surgery came back abnormal and they had to re-run them (and everything was fine). I think if you get delayed it would only be a few hours, unless it's a freak thing with like 1 surgeon and there are back to back emergencies.
Good luck and you are a rock star for carrying twins that long! Hope it all goes well!
Edit: spelling

GSx1 - 05/13/2013
GSx2 for T&B - EDD 6/21/2015 - They're having a GIRL!
I think we have 2 O.R's as well.
But my OB practice only has 2 OB's and im not sure how they handle emergencies that come up with their patients. I hope no one has an emergency tomorrow
I guess that's about all I can really do.

I was an emergency that bumped regular prenatal appointments and other c-sections.
When it was time for my RCS I was bumped. It was no big deal since I was the bumper once I had more compassion about it. I was bumped an hour.
Our hospital has a new policy (started in May) that says there is one OR for scheduled c/s so they won't be bumped by emergencies.
But, my second and third c/s were before this policy, and this is what happened:
2nd c/s: scheduled 8 am, in OR at noon
3rd c/s: scheduled 8 am, in OR at 10 am
So, for me, neither were bumped THAT long, but I know that the woman after me who was scheduled for 10 am ended up not getting in till 8 PM!! :S

My Blog
I was an emergency C-section after an OB appointment u/s showed my baby was in distress and was not doing well (turns out the cord was wrapped around his neck multiple times). They literally ran me up there and had the baby out 45 min later. If we had waited much longer, they said he may not have made it or could have sustained permanent brain damage.
I will never, ever get annoyed by being bumped for a RCS or even to wait in the OB's office again due to someone else's emergency.
I hope this doesn't come off as Debbie downer, it just gave me a new perspective since I can often be impatient about things. Just be thankful that you are going to get a healthy baby out in the end! Good luck!
