Mobile: Intro and wwyd re: daycare incident
Hi! I'm a major longtime lurker here, been around since I got my bfp last april. My DS was born January 14 after 26 hours of labor ugh but he is awesome. This board is awesome too and I learn much from you all! Looking forward to becoming more involved!
So my issue: DS is at a home Daycare. He is the youngest of the kids there, the others being 3 girls aged 18 to 24 months. He's been there since he was 7 weeks and we haven't really had any issues. Today I had him in a long sleeved shirt and when I brought him home and changed him, I noticed he had a dark purple bruise on his forearm that looks like a bite mark. I've emailed the Daycare lady and sent her a picture and asked if she knew anything about it but I haven't heard back yet.
Wwyd? I realize accidents happen, but he's so much younger than the other kids, and I guess I was hoping she'd keep a better eye out when they all interact. How many times do I "let it go" before I determine it's a real problem? Am I making a big deal out of nothing? Thanks for any input!
Re: Intro and WWYD Re: Daycare Incident
My guy has given himself a hickey too. I always pull his arm out of his mouth now and give him his WubNub instead.
But if it was the older kids I would definitely pull DS out. One of two things happened... they knew about the incident and didn't mention it or they weren't supervising the kids well enough to see the incident happen. Either scenario would be a deal breaker for me the first time.
My in home d/c has some strict rules about DS being around the three other kiddos she has....ages 14, 16 & 17 months. She never leaves him within reach of them unassisted. She always puts him in a PNP where they cannot get to him if she takes her eyes off of him. They love him but think he is a baby doll.
She does let them interact with him while she is closely supervising. Touching his belly, feet, arms....no touching his face or hands. Singing/talking to him. Now that he is in a walker more often she says she has to play more interference but so far no negative incidents.
I hope they didn't know about the bite...if they did and didn't disclose I'd be looking for a new d/c.
oh, and welcome!
Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

My DC lady called me last night in response to my email and sounded genuinely upset, concerned, and apologetic for the mark. She said he didn't even cry yesterday at all so she has no idea when or how it happened. She apologized profusely and promised to keep the girls away from him at all times from now on.
I feel a little better, but I plan on keeping my eyes out for other DC options.
