Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sleeping Pattern

I need your advice mothers. My DD sleeps in 30 min intervals throughout the day and tries to at night but the actual issue I'm having is how can I get her to go to bed earlier? now she goes to bed around 11-12 o'clock at night wakes up between 3-4 for a bottle then in the morning around 8-8:30. I would like for her to go to bed around 8-9 at night n get up earlier in the morning. I'm an early bird so waking up around 6-7 in the morning doesn't bother me. I just don't know how to start to change her pattern or should I just see if she will grow out of it? Oh yeah she is 5 months old.

Re: Sleeping Pattern

  • We did the same as PP- started waking DD up at 6:00 everyday playing and would do the first feeding around 6:30 or 7:00 depending how long it took her to wake up enough to eat. Then she would basically go right back down.

We also faded away from the dream feed (late night between 10-11PM). We started weaning her off of it slowly by feeding her less. One night I fed her 4oz instead of 5 then a couple nights only 3 until she eventually wasn't waking up for the dreamfeed anymore and now she eats her last bottle at 7:30 and goes to bed between 8-8:30. When we first dropped it, she slept until 3 ish and would naturally wake up around 6ish. Now she is sleeping through the night.

I think it is pretty easy to change their patterns but I think you need to take it slow. It may take a week or so but eventually they will back into a new routine.
