What age did your LO get tubes? Our pedi was on the fence, though ds has has 6 infections and 8 rounds of abx this year alone so he sent us to the ENT. ENT of course wants to do it as the pedi said he would, but he also said that they don't like to do them at this time of year because we are coming out of cold/flu season and by next year he'd probably "outgrow" the infections... then of course the ENT tells us 5-6 is when they outgrow the infections. I am so confused.

Re: Ear tubes - what age?
DS got tubes at 11 months. Like pp said, we're very glad DS got them.
Like you, it was April and pedi said the ENT probably wouldn't do the tubes since it was the end of cold/flu season. ENT said he would defintalty do tubes in our child as kids still get colds in the summer. Our son has a terrible cold right now with thick, green snot. In the past, he would have gotten an ear infection, but this time he's been sleeping great.
DD1 was 14 months, DD2 was 10 months. I don't regret the tubes for a second, they were absolutely the best decision we could have made for their health. Neither of the girls has had a single ear infection since.
DD1's tubes were in May. The ENT did say we could wait it out and see if the chronic infections stopped after cold/flu season, but as not a single one of DD1's ear infections was ever preceded by a cold the ENT was comfortable giving us 99% odds that the infections would not stop, so we went ahead with the tubes.
DD1 Feb 2010
DD2 Sept 2011
DD had them at 8 months old for recurring ear infections.
DS never really had ear infections but he had them put in at 17 months old because he had fluid that wouldn't clear. He had a slight speech delay and that is a big contributing factor.
