Depending on the look you like I have found that the OverLand Equipment bags hold everything I need for both of us for a full day. They are small and durable. I have 'Donner' and plan on getting another soon.

I have a Miche bag. They have interchangeable shells on them so you can change your look in 3 seconds. They also have changeable straps including a cross body one.

i love Roots! Good suggestion.
They have a US website too - so we can get them here in the states!! 

I just got an awesome Roots bag as a "diaper bag" for Mother's Day and my bday. It is soooo nice and I love it. I love the quality. Of the leather. It's just gorgeous.

The bolded. I am one that is willing to spend a fair amount on a nice purse, so my suggestions may not be what you are looking for. I will buy more expensive, classic style purses that will last longer and use them for years. If budget is not a huge issue, I have a great Marc Jacobs cross body that I love!

The bolded. I am one that is willing to spend a fair amount on a nice purse, so my suggestions may not be what you are looking for. if it's a bag that i love i'll spend the money. i would rather do that than keep buying bags that i use a few times because i end up not liking it

How big of a bag are you looking for? What do you want it to be able to hold?

the basics (my stuff only).. I have a wallet that is a little on the bigger side so that is the issue with crossbodies. i gets snug taking it in and out, which gets annoying

It's such a good bag, and has lots of room. Has a removable short handle and a longer one to use as an over the body bag. Marc Jacobs later made one that was basically the same, but the roots one feels so much nicer I think
