Preemies

no teeth at 15 1/2 months

Developmentally my daughter is 13 1/2 months and she isn't showing any signs of teeth/teething. she was born at 33 wks at 2 lbs 7 oz. the doctor wants to send her for bloodwork to see if anything is going on. at her 15 month checkup she weighed 16 lbs 11 oz and is 28 inches tall. any feedback would be appreciated...

i have another preemie daughter ( 9 now) who was born 26 wks 1 lb 9 oz and i dont remember any teething issues back then.

My niece just got a tooth at 13 months. She was not a preemie but has GERD and it affected her growth.

  • thanks for the response. hannah is in the 0% for weight, but doctor not concerned b/c she is following the curve and my older daughter has always been in the 0%. wondering if i could feed her foods that will help her.
  • My dd who was born at term didn't get teeth until 14 months old. Some kids just get them late. Dd's doctor was going to send us to a dentist if they didnt come in by 15 months, but I'm not sure what they'd do if the just wouldn't come in.

  • My youngest will be 15 months old on the 12th and she doesn't have any teeth yet either. I thought for sure she was cutting teeth months ago. So far just has a small part breaking through the gum line that started two weeks ago, but nothing is happened since. We have her 15 month appointment on Friday, hoping they will refer us to a pediatric dentist for x-rays and possible blood work. From what I understand they should have teeth by the time they are 18 months old.

DD was born at 34w 5d at 5lbs 5oz, she is now almost 15 months and weighs 23lbs. She's has already been in the 50% for weight, so I'm not really sure if blood work will show us anything at this point. I think it may be a wait and see game.

Your not alone. I will try and update next week for sure.

  • I would ask the dr before you worry to much. Every child cuts teeth at a different age.
  • We had our appointment last Friday and my little stinker finally cut a second tooth. SmileOur doctor wasn't too concerned.
