So it seems like DD despises the stroller now. The screaming tantrums, kicking, going limp, and then screaming throughout whatever store we go in for about 5 minutes is becoming quite embarrassing now. She just loves to walk everywhere, but walks extremely slow and will try to run off sometimes. Having her walk the mall or in any store just doesn't seem to be a good idea. I really hate the idea of getting one of those leash things for her. So, do you all think she just grew out of the carriage? Just a phase? She just turned 2 last month.
Re: DDs meltdowns when getting in the stroller
Personally, I would ignore her and continue to put her in the stroller, especially if you can't trust her to walk alone. My sister gives in and tries to please her only child (2.5 years old). Drives me crazy. You are the adult, you are the boss, not the child.
I try to distract with snacks or a book or something. Also, we have one of these (https://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=12879953). We don't use it all the time, but it helps.
For the record, I don't mind the leashes, as a win-win, since she can walk and you can keep her safe. But honestly, she might throw more of a fit for being "tied down".

If DD wants to walk she is more than welcomed to. If she doesn't stay with me she either goes on my back/in the stroller/in the wagon/in the cart whether she likes it or not. As soon as I can get to a semi private location we'll talk about the importance of her staying with Mommy and if she wants to try walking again she's welcome to.
She's only pulled the toddler dash on me once and we responded by picking her up, leaving the store, getting in the car and going home. She was hysterical and so upset that we left and has never tried doing it again. (I think she also sensed my fear.)
We also give DD the choice between walking, being in the carrier, being in a stroller, being in a wagon or being on her bike. At the grocery store she can pick between a regular cart or the car cart. I've found that letting her choose helps tremendously.
