7 month old not "talking"

Hi all!  A few months ago, my 7-month-old daughter would often gab to us.  We'd also hear her "speak" through her monitor sometimes.  Over the past week or two, I've noticed that her "gabbing" has been replaced my sounds that sound more like moaning.  She still speaks occasionally, but it seems less frequent.  I know she's probably still experimenting with the sounds she can make, I'm just worried that maybe I'm doing something wrong when it comes to her verbal development.  Any thoughts?  Thanks everyone!

  • I'm in the same situation.  My 6 month old seems to have slowed down as well with babbling, she seemed to do more of it at 5 months old.  My mind gets so paranoid that something is wrong.

  • DS is like that too.  He mostly squeals these days and is only doing vowels but no consonants.  There are 2 therapists at an "open play" we go to, and they say that if the baby is working hard on motor skills, their language skills usually take a back seat for a little bit.  That's definitely the case for my son, as he's starting to crawl.  The therapists say not to worry at this point.

Same here. Babbling has slowed down and now he prefers to blow raspberries/bubbles all the time.

  • Last month W went through a couple weeks when we barely heard a word from him, but he constantly made this screeching/shrieking/yelping noise like a siren. I'm guessing he discovered a new sound and thought it was so hilarious he forgot about talking. And he was very close to crawling so that took most of his concentration too. He's back to the babbling now, thank goodness, because some of those other sounds were so obnoxious!

  • My 7 month old was doing the same thing but after reading some of the posts above, it all makes sence. Her lack of gab wanef at the same time she wad learning to sit. I too started to get woeried but bow she is saying goo and baw baw baw as well as plenty of squeling, yelling, moaning and raspberries.
