Mortuary turned daycare center

We are just starting to look at options for DD next year. One option we are considering is a montessori program that goes from infant to preschool. It's a licensed center that is house in a former mortuary. My mom has attended funerals and such there in the past and says its weird that we are even considering this place.

I agree it's an odd location for a center but it's a nice building with a lot of outdoor space. I don't have my heart set on this place yet but I was curious if you ladies agreed with her or not. Should we eliminate it as an option because of the business that used to be run out of the building?

Total lurker here.

My son's daycare used to be a veterinarians office. It stank in the past, but they refinished everything and it's great now.

i wouldn't worry about what it used to be.

Wouldn't phase me a bit. I imagine DH would think it's "cool" as he is all over watching ghost hunters

This would not bother me at all. Better to use the building than tear it down or let it sit empty.

Wouldn't bother me. I'm sure lots of business that we frequent had other uses in the past.

It wouldn't bother me either, but I grew up with my backyard bordering a cemetery where we played in the daytime and nighttime, lol. (Though it was admittedly not one of those really old creepy ones).

It's not like it's serving a dual purpose of mortuary/daycare. That would be creepy. It's just a building, so it wouldn't bother me. Most old houses have had people die in them and we live there.

I don't think it's a good enough reason to eliminate it either. I still have to check it out but I would love it if this place works out.

My initial reaction is "EEEEEEK!" but that's mainly because I have a phobia of dead bodies. However, I have to admit that if it were a clear frontrunner, the past use of the building wouldn't matter to me ultimately. If I had two centers that were totally equal, and one used to be a mortuary, I'd probably go with the other one.....but only ever so slightly.
