My dog is a b!tch. I don't know what to do about her anymore. We've had several problems with her and the kids but today it's been particularly bad.
This morning she was up on the bed, yes, I made the poor decision to let her up there, anyway, Jack was laying there and she literally jumped ON him to get down. She could have gone around him or gone the other way. He started to cry about it, I don't think she hurt him, but she could have.
Then, I let her sleep on my lap with our other small dog while Jack was napping and Liam was watching a show. Liam came up and pet her and she growled at him. I don't usually let her on my lap when the kids are awake but I was tired and dozing.
I feel like she could snap at one of them. I'm just so frustrated. But, I have deep emotional issues with rehoming dogs. I tried to rehome her once and ended up going back like 10 minutes later and getting her because Liam and I were crying so hard.
Please don't flame me for having this dog. She's almost 8 and hasn't ever actually bit anyone. She's a small dog and needs a ton of attention. I wish I knew someone personally, without small kids, that she could happily live with and be a queen bee.

Re: My dog
I feel your pain, like immensely! It's so hard to deal with a dog that has behavior issues when you have small kids. I'm at the point of wanting to rehome too. Our dog is terrible! I've tried everything too. She's not aggressive at all though, so that's the only thing saving her.
I know my dog needs more exercise- long walks even though she is small, but I just don't have the time and feel bad about it. Does your dog get enough walking in?
My dog barks and whines all effing day. She begs for food, grabs food out of ds1 hands, drags her butt on everything, barks at tv, barks at neighbors, snores louder than a 300lb man, she just can't do anything right!! It's awful to live with.
The worst part is I know it's my fault! Plus, I think she's too inbred. I paid $2000 for a dog thinking she would be well behaved. Boy was I wrong!
My only suggestion is more walking, even though I can't take my own advice
They sound like the same dog, minus the snoring. She doesn't snore but she does whine about everything and she used to bark all of the time but we got her a bark collar.
I don't walk her everyday. I used to and I probably will walk her more once the new baby is here. But, walking her doesn't change her bad attitude. She is still food aggressive with the other two dogs and growls at the kids.
What kind of dog is yours?
My puggle is the best dog ever, I'm an animal lover for sure.
She's a cavalier King Charles spaniel. Cute as can be and very gentle, but soooo high needs! I'm getting a mutt next time. My DH might strangle her one of these days.
I have a bark collar but I'm too afraid to use it. Sounds like they work though. Do you like yours?
Use the bath collar!! You won't regret it! Seriously. It's life changing. She will probably still whine but the barking will stop. It only takes a couple of times for the dog to learn that when they bark they get a little shock. When she's wearing the collar she will bark once because she knows it only shocks her if she barks a couple of times in a row. I would say it only took her 2 days to learn not to bark with it on. And, she's not getting punished for barking constantly. She seems happier with it, honestly.
I never thought of the growling as a positive before. Liam was alarmed and quickly stopped touching her this afternoon when she did growl. It is probably good for him to be aware of her limits. Typically if she growls at the kids I just separate her further from the kids.
Actually, most of what you listed we do. The dogs eat outside, kids only eat at the table. Dog isn't allowed near kids, unless, like today, I'm not on top of it.
She has issues. I could crate her while Jack is awake because he's a little more unpredictable than Liam. I tried it for a few days but she whined the entire time.
That's one of the things that drives me the most crazy. She literally is never quiet. There's always some kind of terrible squeak coming from her.
