First of all, I'm jealous that you're that small! I don't like wearing shorts either, but usually break down and do anyway! I like Old Navy because they have 3 inch and 5 inch length shorts and Bermuda shorts that hit right above the knee. They have khaki type shorts that come in a wide range of colors and are a little nicer looking, plus they have jean shorts. Good luck!
I second Old Navy's shorts. In fact, I have a couple pairs that arrived yesterday to try on.
In terms of styles, I generally prefer a bit longer at this point -- More of the 5-7" inseams. I think that the super short ones look really odd at my age (32). Plus, I really don't like my thighs rubbing together, so the extra length is nice.
I love the shorts at Ann Taylor Loft. They have a ton of colors and they are not too short. They are nice quality as well, mine have held up well the past couple summers when I started to wear shorts again
Lol I must be the odd one out. I don't dress inappropriate for my age, I just turned 29, but I sill wear shorts like I did before. Depending on the situation and who I'm with ill still wear some pretty short shorts. Not all the time and it has to be an appropriate setting but my regular shorts are still well above my knee

Another vote for Old Navy's 5" seam and Bermuda shorts! I have heard good things about Ann Taylors shorts. I was at the mall last Friday and they were on sale. I wanted to try them on, but I was by myself with both kiddos, and it just wasn't happening.

I usually wear capri's or bermudas. If I do wear normal shorts, I make sure they have at least 2 inches inseam, otherwise I feel like my butt is hanging out haha. I'm 21 and I don't even feel comfortable with the style of shorts today. Especially the ones where the bottom of the pockets are hanging out of the shorts.
Maxi skirts are also another option. They look adorable, and they aren't too heavy so I love them for summer.
Another benefit of capris and bremudas, is less to shave, and less raw skin gets exposed to a hot, been sitting in the sun all day, car seat. Forget about the seat everyonce in a while and yowza!
Oh, and have gotten some at Van Husen (outlet) which were nice.

Me too re the Ann Taylor loft shorts. I buy the shortest length they offer.
