XP how many wait lists?

I will be returning to work in October when my daughter is 10 months old. We thought we had a day care all lined up but we found out today we most likely wont have a spot in October and they have advised us to get on some other wait lists so we aren't in a bind come October. How many wait lists did you get on?

Also, for those of you who started at one day care and then switched when a spot opened at your first choice how did the transition go for your LO.?
