I could get them from the photographer who has done family pics for us for $300, but we'll probably just use the pics that the photographer at the hospital takes for $125. Not doing maternity pics.
My maternity pics and newborn pics both have a $175 sitting fee and then whatever pictures you want from that are extra. A disc of all of the pictures is $500 , which is what I plan on getting. So for both my maternity and newborn sessions together im expecting to spend $1350. My birth photographer is a package price that includes all pictures for $750.
I'n lucky enough to have a photographer for a friend and she actually requested to do my maternity photos. My shoot is next weekend, and i'm not paying a dime!
I will have to look into the costs for the hospital ones though, not sure how much mine will be either!
My best friend's wife is a professional photog and is doing my maternity shoot for only $200, including editing time and release of image rights. She specializes in weding and engagement portraits, so she referred me to someone else for newborn photos since she has no training in that area. I chose a package that does newborn, 6 months and one year photos for $350, not including any prints or image rights. I'll be ading those a la carte later, probably adding a few hundred dollars to my final bill.
I live in the Midwest so prices for this stuff may be a little lower than in larger areas.
We are not doing maternity pictures, but are splurging, for us at least, on newborn pictures. The cost is a sitting fee of $225 and a minimum photo purchase of $400. However, I will be getting a "free" photo album with a value of $600 because I booked after they reached a certain number of fans on facebook. I was waiting for some kind of thing like this since I follow the studio and knew they did this.
For what it's worth, though, I think we're getting a lot for our money. This includes 2 photographers shooting for an hour and a half each, one who specializes in natural light photography and one who specializes in studio lit photography. Plus, for convenience, they are right around the corner from the house and their work is truly like art. I can't wait!
I know a lot of hospitals offer newborn photos befor you leave my friend paid 100. But I feel like they came out really bad. I am thinking about going someplace, I know BRU does them but my sure how much. I would prolly do a basic package. But I'm really wanting to do a 1st birthday smash cake photo shoot!! My cousin did one and they came out super cute!

I'm not doing maternity pictures because I did them with DS and really, how many pictures of my pregnant belly do I need? But we are doing newborn pictures. Our package includes a half day session at our house the week we come home. All of the pictures are included on a disk and we also get a few prints, and birth announcements. Everything is 550 dollars, and we have a really amazing photographer! I am so excited! It's not the kind of money that we usually spend, but we didn't do it with DS and I really regretted it. We also get several family portraits too that day.
We said goodbye to our sweet Taylor Ashley on August 8, 2012.We lost baby Noelle on May 1, 2015
Mom to Cam and Al, now expecting baby number 3, August 2016. Praying for lots of sticky baby dust!
A friend of mine is doing our maternity pictures. But for our newborn we're going with a photographer that charges $150 for a sitting fee (and she comes to our home to do the pictures!) and a deposit of an additional $150 that will be spent on prints.
The photographer I'm using had a special going for 150 dollars for newborn pics, which includes 2 hours of shoot time, 20 edited images on a disc, an 11x14 and two 8x10 prints, and a custom birth announcement. I added a mini maternity shoot for 50 dollars which is just a 30 minute shoot and 8 edited images on a disc. So 200 dollars altogether.
ETA I also followed this photographer on FB for awhile. I knew I wanted to go with her, but I waited until she posted a special. It saved us over 100 bucks.
I am going to have a friend and maybe my sister take maternity pics, very laid back point & shoot type just to have a few. Both have very nice higher end cameras and are good at picture taking. I will get them both a little thank you gift suitable to their personalities.
I will be doing newborn pics with a professional and her session fee is $125 and you get her for 2 hours of picture taking and get a proofbook of all pictures. You can then add on to that various collections ranging from $125 to $200 and/or add a la carte. A CD with rights is $100 w/collection or $200 w/o. Not sure yet what I will pick out.
I may also do the hospital ones, but a small package, just to have some of those for keepsake purposes. No idea what those cost.
You're going to get lots of different responses here because photography prices vary by region. As a photographer in the Midwest I charge 175 for the session only and then there is a minimum purchase of 300. My lowest digital image collection is 600. I offer birth and newborn clients a mini maternity session addon for 300 which includes a 30 minute session and 10 images on a flash drive with print release.
I really wanted to have them professionally done and even picked out who I wanted to use. Unfortunately we are just too tight on money right now to spend this much on pictures so we will probably just do our own session by picking a pretty spot and having a friend snap some. The lady I was going to go with charged a $150 sitting fee for your choice of two sessions (maternity, newborn, 6 mo or 1 year) and then had a $150 print requirement. You could put the disk towards this credit which was $199.
I'm doing a package that includes just a few maternity shots and more newborn shots. $125 for both and she gives us all the digital pictures to print as we wish.
The photographer we are going to use for newborn pics is 200 for approximately 150 pictures and we get a disc of the edited pics within a week of our session. We are booking this week because her calendar fills up fast.
I found a photographer that offers a special if I book both my maternity and newborn sessions together she will knock off $50 so it will be $275 all together.
It is going to depend on your area and the photographer IMO. Photographers around me range from $50-$150 for a session fee and you pay per pic/size that you want or a flat fee for the disk and copy rights so you can do as you please.
I'm doing a maternity "mini session" which is around 7 pics for $125 because I just wanted to have a couple nice looking pics. The newborn session from the same person is $250 and it's 3 hours and she comes to our house during the first week which is really nice.
Im on the southside of Chicago. The photographer I contacted said his package is 1 hour of shoot time at our apartment, with shots of baby & baby & us and then we get the disk of all the pics and i believe some are edited if not all edited. It's $400. Which is does seem like a ton of money but I know in the photography world you get what you pay for.
